*Veronica's POV
The few days turned into 2 weeks then to 4. I didn't realize how much time went by, but I did notice how many bruises I received throughout.
They started to appear more when Jake turned a level up the training sessions by making dummies and holograms that I could feel and try to fight them, it was not easy. It was supposed to be a good thing so I could get used to how to fight someone, but bad since I had to learn a lot of ways to fight. I did end up getting a few cuts at first, but many bruises formed. The weather was starting to get colder throughout the month, so I was able to wear my usual long sleeve shirts and black pants. They ended up hiding the marks, but somehow not all of them.
I had to go to the bathroom one day and looked into the mirror to find out that there were some bruises on my neck! It must have been from when I fought a hologram ninja and it's nun chunks hit my neck. It didn't hurt that much for me to think a big bruise would form! I asked Jake that day what I could do, and got introduced to a Magic Camouflage Cream. The cream would hide any marks on a magical person's body and blend in immediately with any skin tone they had.
I wanted to try it as quickly as possible and saw that it worked once I rubbed it really well on my neck. Thinking about my marks and not being able to show up made me feel at ease going to school the next day.
Throughout the day no one said anything in my classes or at Brunch, but for some reason at Lunch Andy had the courage to go up to the metal bench while my friends left me alone to go get some fruit drinks.
"Hello Veronica," Andy says from behind me while I throw my cheese stick wrapper away in a trash can.
I turn to him. "Hey, Andy."
"How are you doing?" He asks curiously.
"Uh Good." I nod. "You?"
I walk with him back to the bench. "Oh, Good too. Uh, How's your classes?"
"Good, so far at least." I joke, making them both chuckle.
"You?" I eat the rest of the cheese stick. "Good too."
I bend down to my backpack with my lunch on the back to get another snack. My hair had to go on the left side of her neck to get it out of the way so I could see clearer.
"Hey, what happened there?" Andy asked suddenly.
"What?" I looked up and rubbed where he was pointing at.
"It looks like a bruise." He says squinting his eyes at it.
I try thinking of a good enough excuse. "Oh Um it's actually from me helping Camila practice basketball for next year."
He stays still looking at it concerned. "You know how she can be. All tough and rough."
He should remember how Camila is a lot more athletic and outgoing. She has experimented with soccer, wrestling, baseball, and now it's basketball.
He thankfully chuckles and nods. "Yeah, she does do some stuff." I start to smile thinking about it as my friends start to come back.
"Wow, I didn't know you had enough guts to come by here," Harley says sarcastically, impressed, but secretly angry.
Andy puts up his hands like people do to surrender. "I just wanted to talk to Veronica."
"Well, now she's busy," Claire says aggressively. I roll my eyes not believing that they are really kicking him out.
He nods and looks like he bowed. "Understood."
They gladly smirk and watch as he walks back to his friends. "Tell me again why you both hate him so much," I ask as they set their drinks down.
