*Veronica's POV*
It must be because we have been hanging out with each other for three weeks, but Max has been wanting to make a conversation about me or him, whether it was before or after our training sessions. It was nice to talk to someone about this. The boys would only care about the monster part of having magic, and Jake hasn't been around our generation to really bond with me.
Later in the week before we went to the gym we started to talk about my past before I got the full name The Ultimate.
"How the hell did you become friends with the guys?" He asked.
"Do you really want to talk about them?" I asked back, thinking that talking about them would just put him on full rage mode.
He sighed deeply. "Alright fine, umm when did you figure out that you had powers?"
I chuckled thinking about the memories before I became a sixth grader. "It was last year after Christmas and I started to see that drinks were getting frozen whenever I held them." I never told anyone about that christmas, it just came out without a care in the world.
I suddenly felt heat on my cheeks when Max chuckled. Thinking he was going to make fun of me, so I added. "But I feel like it started before that, and I just didn't notice." I was hoping it would make sense.
He nodded. "It does seem understandable."
My face scrunched up with curiosity. "How so?"
"Your power appeared at this young of an age, compared to the others. It's always appeared in adults. It just had to get use to being in a child. What your like 11?
I gave him a serious "Really?" look and said. "I'm 13 now."
"Damn you look younger."
"Thanks." I say as I check my phone which was buzzing for a few seconds. It turns out my mom and Eliana decided to make hamburgers and wanted to eat it as a family dinner. That sound weird since we don't really do family dinners. We just take our food and eat in our rooms.
"We should get to training for a bit. My mom wants us to have a family dinner."
Max looked at me confused. "Really? You guys don't normally do that."
"I know." I sigh as Max and I head to the gym.
"You ready?" He asks as we stand close together again.
I nod. "Yup."
"Alright." He sighs as he raises his hand for mine to connect with it. After a few training sessions Max gave me a suggestion that I should close my eyes, so I wouldn't get distracted easily
Before I did I saw that Max's shoulders were highlighted with light blue all over it and even covering both his shoulders! Now I just have to highlight everything else.
"Just focus, Veronica. Your doing great." I didn't care for Max talking, it even made me more focus and oddly calmer.
My curiosity got the best of me when I was wondering how long the blue color increased. I opened up my eyes and locked eyes with Max's brown ones with my own widened from how the color covered all of Max's head.
"Oh wow!" I gasped at the increase.
Max chuckles at my reaction. "Am I that handsome?" He had to ask.
I had no idea how to answer that, but I was thinking about something else.
"I guess?" I say as I lifted myself on my tip toes and locked lips with Max.
On the outside I was trying to act calm and follow through what me and Max were doing with our hands now intertwining! On the inside I was screaming with excitement, nervousness, and joy. Surprisingly I was able to feel them and feel how soft Max's lips really were. I don't know if he did notice, but I did sneak a quick glance at his lips whenever he talks.
I didn't care if Max's was glowing or not, but after kissing for a few seconds I'm guessing he was still.
I immediately rethought about what the heck we were doing and backed up and took away the blue light. I was hoping Max didn't have regret in his expression or words.
"Sorry. Max. I'm sorry." I started to rapidly say.
His whole demeanor was not at all angry, but concerned. "It's fine, Veronica."
"I should go." I say as I rush out of the gym, not wanting to know if he regretted it not. I bet he did.
Once I got to the library I rapidly texted my dad saying that I was getting hungry and wanted to get picked up now. Thankfully he responded with "Okay. On my way."
I put my phone on the librarians desk and started to pace back and forth, really trying to process what the heck happened.
"I kissed him!" I repeated in my mind and mumbled it out loud.
"I kissed Max!" I started to think about as my dad picked me up.
"Hey boog." My dad said.
"Hey daddy." I say as I set my backpack in between my feet.
"How was your day?" He asks.
"Uhh Good, good." I took out my ear buds and really wanted to listen to anything, but my Romantic Playlist. Even though I did not want to think about the kiss I felt in the mood to play romantic songs. Even if the kiss wad going to destroy my friendship with Max. I didn't want it to end. I guess I just wanted something more.
*Third Person Pov*
Veronica tried to be herself all throughout the dinner, and tried not to think about the kiss. It was so hard. So many questions were pilling up in her mind. When did she first have a interest in him? Was it because of his honesty? His comfort?Did she really like him that much? Does he reciprocate those feelings?! Questions were keeping her awake, along with the kiss between the two.
Even though it was only one or two seconds it was all Veronica could think about. How long, how gentle, and how good the kiss felt. With all of those feelings she couldn't stop thinking about it during the drive home, doing her homework, watching one of her subscribed gamers she loves so much. When she had to go to bed at 11, her usual time, nothing was in her mind besides the thought of Max probably not feeling the same way about the kiss as her.
She starred up at the roof finally thinking of everything that could go right if Max does feel the same. He will be there for her. Unlike everyone around her, unlike Camila who has a ridiculous sleeping schedule for her age.
On the other side of her door Max was thinking something different, a question. "Can she even be with me?" He was then standing for a few minutes then slid his back down against the wall for him to sit down. "Is it possible?" He asks himself. The only answer he really wanted was "Yes." Luckily Veronica got to get some sleep and even wake up remembering what happened the day before.
