*Veronica's POV*
There weren't any disasters that got students or teachers talking around school. They were just talking about what they were going to do during Christmas break or complaining about texts and projects being assigned. Instead of doing any of that I had to secretly browse around the internet for any articles that were coming up more than ads for black friday deals.
Some of them stated that house fires and missing people were increasing more around town. Most of them however almost spread to other houses right beside them. There were reports of people starting to say that before any of the disasters started there was a mysterious man that interacted with the victims. No one saw him after they talked or after the disaster happened. It was like he disappeared into thin air. People who have read about the man have now made theories that he could have somehow caused it. People who didn't believe them have looked thoroughly on what the victims have said about what caused the disasters, and it still leads them to nothing. Everything on the news made me and the boys confused about where the this man is since it's spreading out its prey every day.
"We can try listing the locations of where these are happening." Andy suggests.
"That could take days from how many articles are coming up." Vince argues.
"Then what can we do?!" He yells with frustration.
"Think of better ways to capture to find it." I interfere before the boys have a cat fight.
"I don't see you having any." Vince had to strike back.
"And I don't see you fighting with those spaghetti arms." I strike back.
"Guys! We shouldn't be doing this anymore." Andy then shouted as Vince took a look at his arms and crossed them across his chest.
"It sounds like to me this stupid monster is making us a bit agitated." Andy mentions.
"A bit?" Adrian asked.
"Instead of fighting, let's just stop for today and text each other if anything happens or at least have a plan, cause now it looks like we are about to rip each other's heads off." Me and Vince exchange looks of anger.
"Fine." We both sighed and agreed.
When I got back home there just had to be an echo of my mom's voice from my parents room, and yet she wasn't even talking to Eliana, but to Camila. Turns out she wants to go to a sleep over with her new best friend Alex that she has non stop talking about and to and even hanging out with. Of course our mom said yes, but they did have to discuss the facts before hand. This will actually be her first time at an actual sleep over. I have never been to one, and I doubt I will ever get a chance to at that.
Since I had nothing really to do I returned to looking through more articles about this karakonsolos villain and where it could be. I decided to see the map that had all of those fires and missing people tagged and did notice something off. Around where everything has happened there have been zoo's, aquariums, parks, in a grave distance. It looked like this myth was leaving a trail and it lead to the famous San Diego zoo, which so happened to be where Camila was planning to go to before her sleep over.
She will just think I am trying to ruin it, like she always does whenever I want to go somewhere, this time I need to go. I looked around the zoo to check if there was anything that could convince my parents and Camila that I want to go. They would believe it more if it was something that I would really enjoy, and there actually was.
Just a few streets away from the zoo there happened to be a San Diego library and even if I didn't have to hunt down this myth, I would think about going. I have been a bookworm for nearly all of my life.
By the time I found out about the library Camila was still talking to our mom about her whole plans. I couldn't hold it in anymore. If I don't ask now I might not be able to go, and if I am not able to go, more people will go missing because of me.
I rushed to the room and asked them about it with my iPad in hand, and of course Camila groaned with annoyance.
"Is it in the zoo?" Our mom asked.
I shook my head. "No, it's just a few streets away from the zoo." I moved around the map to check.
"Do you have to go when I go?" Camila asked, trying to hard to hide her anger, but clearly did not work.
"You have all heard that I need more books to read." Actually that's not all true. I thought I did, but found that one more novel, but never told anyone.
"Even though I am coming along, I am not going into the zoo with you and Alex. I'm going to be somewhere else, doing my own thing."
My parents looked towards Camila waiting for her answer, and it did look defeated. "Fine. But you are going to stay away?"
I nodded. "Yup."
She walked off angrily which my parents noticed. "Cammy, why are you so mad?" Our mom asked.
"Because it feels like I need a chaperone to go everywhere!" She said as she left the room. Our parents didn't argue about it and just kept quiet.
"You don't want to go to the zoo, Veronica?" Our dad asked.
"Oh No. I always thought they were boring anyway."
Our dad sighed. "Okay, well tell me if you want a library card for that library."
I nodded. "Okay." And went back to the living room.
For some reason I was actually considering about texting the guys, even though Adrian and Vince might not care, Andy will. Well Andy will just care that he might get a chance to actually help catch this beast, even though he is nothing special. Just remembering him wanting to gloat about how he did "something" during the fight with Anubis was really enough to know that he just wants to make himself look better. Instead of being a big stalker faker he really is.
I put my phone down and went on to look through the fastest way to the San Diego zoo from the library. Hoping that it wasn't that far.
