KUNOT NA KUNOT ang noo ni Leif habang nakaupo sa maruming selda. Nakasandal sya sa pader habang nakatingin sa labas ng rehas na bakal
"Martinez, labas na! Napiyansahan ka na" sabi ng pulis
Tumayo sya at lumabas ng selda. Nakita nya si Lexxus kasama ang naghihikab na si Khairro, kausap ng pulis ang abogado nya na si Spencer
Tinignan sya ni Spencer at pinasok ang kamay sa suot nitong pants. Lumabas sila ng presinto
"Really, Leif? It's late, you know"
"That's why I called you" sabi nya kay Spencer at naglabas ng sigarilyo mula sa bulsa nya saka iyon sinindihan "I know, you can pull some strings"
"This is overtime, dude. Better pay me good because this is the third time this week" sabi nito
"Wow, bro. Third time, you're working hard" sabi ni Khairro
"Be careful next time, Leif. Especially next week, Spencer will leave the country" sabi ni Lexxus
"You're going to Canada?"
Tumango si Spencer "I'll give you Ace Tolentino's number. He will take care of you for the time being" sabi nito
"Should I say thank you?"
"You should. Ace is nice so be nice to him" sabi ni Spencer sa kanya
Napailing nalang sya at binuga ang usok ng sigarilyo. Napatingin sila sa tumigil ng kotse ng pulis at bumukas ang pinto sa likod. Biglang may tinulak na tao palabas doon
"Ano ba?! Pwede kitang kasuhan ng police brutality?!"
"Police brutality ka dyan? Hindi ako pulis 'no" sabi ng babae na lumabas ng backseat at ngumiti
"Eh bakit?"
"What's this, Candy?" tanong ng lalaking kalalabas lang ng police station
"I borrowed one of the police car and kidnapped this man" sabi ng babae at tinuro ang lalaking nakaposas
"Are you serious?"
Bumukas ang driver seat at lumabas ang isang lalaki roon "She is. I'm here as her lawyer if you're gonna punish her for stealing one of the police car"
"It's not stealing. Hiniram ko, okay? Hindi lang ako nagpaalam"
Umiling nalang ang lalaking nasa driver seat kanina
"Since when did you become impulsive and reckless, Ace?" tanong ng lalaking pulis
"I knew it. It's really Ace" biglang sabi ni Spencer
"You know him?" tanong ni Khairro
"Leif's future lawyer" sabi ni Spencer
"Ibabalik ko na yung kotse. Sure ka hindi mo na ako hulihin?" tanong ng babae
"Umalis ka na at huwag ka na bumalik" sabi ng lalaking pulis
"Ay grabe, magkikita pa tayo bukas. Nasa ospital kaya namin yung girlfriend mo" sabi ng babae at ngumiti "Bye-bye, SPO4 Guitterez"
Inakbayan ng lalaking kaninang nasa driver seat ang babae saka nagtungo ang mga sa isang kotse. Biglang napalingon ang lalaki sa direksyon nila Leif
"Spencer?"
"Ace..."
"Hi, dude. It's late" sabi ni Ace at ngumiti
"Kilala mo?" tanong nung babae
"He's also a lawyer. Spencer Reeves" sabi ni Ace at nilingon si Spencer "Spencer, eto ang sakit ng ulo ko, Candy Antonio"
Sumimangot si Candy "Sakit ng ulo talaga? Ang sama ah"
Ngumiti si Ace "You broke a car two days ago and of course, I have to meet the owner of that car. Ginawa mo 'yon kasi bored ka. Last week, you were put inside the jail because you assaulted someone. The week before that, I came to the precinct four times because of your recklessness"
"Pasaway na ako nun? Buti nga ngayong linggo isa palang eh" sabi ng babae at ngumiti
Bumuntong hininga si Ace at nag-iwas ng tingin "Good thing, you pay me good"
"Hehehe syempre naman. Bestfriend kaya kita"
"I hate that word"
Ngumiti lang ang babae at nilingon si Spencer "Nice to meet you, Attorney"
"Nice to meet you too, Miss Candy. Anyway, I'm about to give your number to my client, Leif Martinez" sabi ni Spencer
Nilingon ni Ace si Leif na nakatingin kay Candy. Nilingon ni Ace si Candy na nakatingin sa pusang nasa paanan nito. Tinanggal nya ang pagkaka-akbay kay Candy at agad itong umupo saka hinaplos ang balahibo ng pusa
"Muning...meow...meow.."
Napailing nalang si Ace at tinignan si Leif "I'm Ace Tolentino and here's my calling card"
"Leif Martinez" pakilala nito
"Hala saan ka ba punta?!"
Napalingon si Ace kay Candy na nakanguso at nakatingin sa direksyon ng pusang tumakbo. Tinulungan nya itong tumayo at agad itong yumakap sa kanya "Umalis yung pusa..."
"You have Gigi and Lily in your house"
"Oo nga pero ang cute nung pusa, gusto ko iuwi" sabi ni Candy
"Okay, okay. Get over it, I'll buy ice cream for you?"
"Strawberry flavor?"
"Yes, strawberry flavor"
"Yey!"
"Get inside the car" sabi ni Ace kay Candy
"Okay!" lumuluksong nagtungo si Candy sa kotse
"I'm sorry about that. Anyway, just call me if you need a lawyer. I'll come right away" sabi ni Ace
Narinig ni Ace ang busina ng kotse na kinabuntong hininga nya "I'll go now"
"Good luck, dude" sabi ni Spencer
Mabilis na nagtungo si Ace sa kotse nito at pinaandar na iyon paalis
"Tara na, umuwi na tayo" sabi ni Spencer
Pumasok na sila sa kanya-kanyang kotse at si Leif sumakay sa kotse ni Spencer
"Are you ears ready?"
"Tss. I'm gonna stay in my penthouse"
"Okay" sabi ni Spencer saka pinaandar ang kotse
"About that lawyer.."
"Hmm what about him?" tanong ni Spencer
"Is he going out with that girl?"
Napangisi si Spencer "Why you're interested?"
"She's crazy"
Sinulyapan ni Spencer si Leif "A badass is attracted to his fellow badass too huh?"
Napailing si Leif "Oh please, I just find her crazy"
"Ace is single. I don't know if Candy is, she's a Pediatrician by the way. She works at Andromeda's General Hospital" sabi ni Spencer
"I didn't ask about what she do or where she work"
"Just thank me later, bud" sabi ni Spencer
Ilang minuto pa ang nakalipas at nakarating na sila sa condominium ni Leif
"I don't wanna see your face before I leave, bud"
"I'll call Tolentino then" sabi ni Leif saka pumasok sa loob. Dumiretsyo sya sa 20th floor kung nasaan ang penthouse nya at sumandal sa dingding ng elevator "Candy Antonio...such a sweet name for a badass like her"
