When he was younger most of his friends were fake and only used him for gold or their own personal gain. This still happens during meetings. People will only defend him when it benefits them. He wants friends he can actually trust.

He has always been told to be quiet and he's annoying. He's been told that him constantly talking is why people can't stand him. This usually happens when he's talking about stuff he enjoys. It's why he's afraid to talk about himself or something he likes cause he wants people to stay.

California has only had one birthday party. When he was younger and none of his "friends" showed up and his parents didn't remember either. At least he had Coco give him a bookmark and it's California's most treasured thing.

They all grew up in their dysfunctional family. Massachusetts was always beaten, most of the time without reason. Connecticut was the golden child and wasn't allowed to fail or was beaten. New York was always helping his brothers or hiding from their father. Their father was an alcoholic and their mom passed. Their father made them look like the perfect family out in public.

He gets high to escape from his problems and he feels transported to a different world that makes him feel more in control. And he grew reliant on weed and then kept thinking he needed more. And that he was best in this state.
