Imagine: Druig steals from Makkari just to have a chance to tease.

Druig ducked quickly in between two buildings.

He knew it wouldn't be long at all, until Makkari noticed the little, wood carved boat was gone. And it would take half a second for her to reach the city, knowing good and well who stole her trinket.

His chest heaved with each breath he took. He tried to slow his breathing, and quiet it as well.

Makkari had placed her collection of mini carvings on a table and turned to join in conversation with the others. Druig, who had been over talking and bored out of his mind, saw this as a perfect opportunity.

When the group had moved the chat to another, more crowded area, he made his move. He knew that all of the commotion would mask the movement and vibrations of his attempt as they blended with the movement of others. Makkari would be clueless. And he knew that after the group dispersed, she would head back to collect her trinkets and move them to the Domo, where they would supposedly be safe.

After his breath had calmed, he peaked slowly out of the ally he was hiding in. His heart leaped when he saw Makkari standing in the middle of the dirt path, eyes searching the crowd. He bit his lip as he cradled her treasure, and hoped she didn't catch the jump of his heart or the hitch in his breath.

Gosh, sometimes her abilities scared him. They totally had him weak, though.

Her footsteps were drawing closer and he struggled to strategize. He needed to distract her but the slightest movement would reveal his position. Or at least, with all of the other movement, give her a rough idea of where he was.

He moved very quickly, tossing a small rock out of the ally and across the road. It landed next to a vendor. Makkari's head whipped in the direction the rock landed and he took that chance to bolt to the other end of the ally, out into a crowed of people. He lifted the gray hood of his tunic onto his head and mixed with the jumble of people.

The gasps of people had him biting his tongue. Makkari had sped through the same ally. She was onto him. He knew that as soon as he was found, the only way he would escape her is if she let him.

That totally depended on how gracious she was feeling.

He was just about to reach the walls of the city when a small, firm had gripped his shoulder. He turned hesitantly and pulled the hood off of his head with one hand. The other, also gently gripping the tiny boat, hid in the pocket of his tunic.

"Hello, beauty." He smiled innocently at Makkari, who's arms lay dormant at her sides.

"Felt like a walk?" she signed in question.

Druig nodded.

"I was tired of standing around and talking." He looked towards the vast, blue sky and squinted immediately. Not a cloud in sight. "It's a very beautiful day," he stated as he tilted his chin down to meet her eyes.

They dug into his soul and he tipped his head as he tried to play it cool.

"Is something the matter, Makkari?"

She nodded as she scrutinized him.

"One of my miniature carvings is gone. A boat with a ton of tiny windows and two flags."

He feigned surprise.

"Oh no, not your boat!"

Her eyes traveled to the hand smothered by the fabric of his top. They trailed up his chest until they once again, dug into his very being. He continued to smile as if innocent. She turned her head to the side and her shoulders lifted as air escaped her lungs in a huff. When her head shifted back and her eyes connected with his, she was smirking.

"Give it back Druig."

"Give what back?" He looked down to his hidden hand and pulled it out, opening his palm. He gasped. "What? How'd that get there?"

Her hand jutted out and she grabbed for it, but Druig drew his hand back before she could snatch it.

Her eyes widened and her jaw dropped. She couldn't believe him.

He spun the object in his hands, eyeing the wood. She crossed her arms and his head shot up as he assessed her. Her gaze now held attitude. But it mixed with an uncontrollable grin. He hummed in amusement as his hands continued to twirl the object of her current desires.

"How much did it cost?"

All she did was shake her head. He shook his in return.

"Makkari Makkari. You know stealing isn't right."

Her arms fell to her sides as if she was giving up.

"I traded for it."

His chin tipped up in speculation. He lifted it up in front of her and placed his other hand behind his back.

"It is a cool little carving. Great detail."

While he was admiring the trinket, she shot her hand out and grabbed it. She placed the figure in her pocket.

"That's why I traded for it, thief."

His hand still floated in the air where it had been holding the boat. He dropped his hands to his sides and she stepped past him, bumping into him with slight force, pushing his shoulder back. This is one of the reasons he loved to antagonize her. His head dropped as his lips pulled into a large smile and then he turned around, watching her walk away. He jogged to catch up.

"I like it when you chase me."
