As I wander through the woods, the music from the party starts getting louder. I turn around and head the other way, not trying to have, like 30 teenagers see me bleeding out. I get a few feet then I hear someone behind me.
"Hello?" A girl calls out.
I sigh and keep walking, hearing her follow me.
"Are you okay?" She asks as she gets closer, "Oh my god you're bleeding!"
She starts running to me and she cuts her hand on a tree. I flinch, then she grabs me as I double over.
"What happened to you?" She asks, concerned for me.
"An old friend paid me a visit," I manage to groan out
"We should get you to a hospital," She says, "Help!"
"I think you should leave," I reply.
"Why?" She questions.
"You cut your hand on that tree over there. You should go get that cleaned, and bandaged up," I answer with a smile.
"You shouldn't worry about me, especially not in your condition," She says.
I pull away, barely able to restrain myself, then she shoves her bloody hand into my face, pushing me over the edge. I tackle her and cover her mouth to muffle her screams as I bite into her neck. I take my time, enjoying the first taste of fresh blood I've had in a year. I almost drink her dry, but I pull away, and look her in the eyes, before compelling her to forget about everything that happened from the moment she saw me. I make her drink a little of my blood so the bite on her neck heals before anyone else sees her, then I slowly stand up. When I turn around I see Lee standing there in a state of horror and shock. My eyes widen and I slowly start approaching him.
"L-Lee wait, I can explain. I told her to leave, and she didn't listen, I could hold myself back," I try to explain.
He backs away from me, scared of what he just saw. When I take another step he starts running in the direction of my truck. I run after him for a minute, but then I trip, and scream in agony when I hit the ground, the wood from the tree going deeper inside my back. I see Lee slowly walk back to me, and when he sees the state I'm in, he kneels down.
"W-what happened to you?" He asks
"Someone from my past decided to reappear and make my life a living hell, what happened to you?" I joke.
"I just saw my girlfriend drinking a girl's blood," He replies in a serious tone.
"Well, a few years ago I was practically in your shoes." I say, while slowly trying to pick myself up.
Lee helps me up then I look over at him, his face still white from fear. I start walking in the direction of my truck, and he helps me along the way.
"Are you scared of me?" I ask.
"I'd be lying if I said no," He answers.
"I would never hurt you, that back there was a necessity. If I didn't drink her blood, I would have died," I reply.
"Even if that's true, I didn't know that vampires existed until 5 minutes ago." He says.
When we get to my truck I let the tailgate down and slowly sit on it.
"Can you see the piece of wood still in my back?" I ask
"Yeah, it's like a whole shard. Do.. Do you want me to pull it out for you?" He asks in return.
"Yes, please. Don't pull it out too fast, or at an angle. We don't want a piece to break off, cuz if it does you'll have to go fishing, and that'll be bad for the both of us," I answer.
He softly grabs the large splinter, then he carefully pulls it from my back. I grit my teeth, bearing the pain, then I huff out the breath I was holding. I turn and look at him before pulling off my tattered shirt.
"I'm assuming you want an actual explanation?" I inquire.
"I would appreciate it," He answers before sitting beside me on the tailgate.
"My parents, Dean and Jo Winchester, were hunters. They hunted the things that went bump in the night. My sister and I started hunting with them when we turned 14, and after one of the hunts we got kidnapped by the vampire that almost killed me tonight. He was upset that we killed his friends so he turned us into one of them," I explain.
"Okay, so if that all happened 3 years ago, how'd you get here? Like you two joined our school last year." He asks.
"Well.." I take a deep breath and look at him before exhaling, "Please don't think differently of me because of this.. Summer and I were rarely able to eat. Our parents were very protective and didn't let us out of the house unless we were going on hunts with them. We learned that we could go a few months at a time before having withdrawals, so we'd send our parents on different hunts. We had everything set up for them to leave, and they insisted on us going with them since we did all of the research. We refused, but they wouldn't change their minds. On the hunt we got into a fight, and since Summer and I hadn't fed in a few months, we were too weak to really help. Mom and Dad got injured, and we couldn't control ourselves with the copious amount of blood, so we ended up feeding on them, and accidentally killing them.." I answer
We sit there in silence for a few minutes then Lee softly grabs my hand, and looks me in the eyes.
"I'm so sorry that you had to go through that, Eliza. I just want you to know that it wasn't you or Summer's fault. That bastard did this to you, and we're going to make him pay," He says before getting off the tailgate.
"We? No, there's no 'we' in this situation, Lee. You would be killed, and I can't have anymore people I care about die," I say.
"We'll talk about this on the drive, let me take you home," He says
"You can drive me home, but we're not talking about this, I can't risk your life for my gain," I answer.
I get down and close the tailgate of the truck, then we get inside and he starts driving to my house.
