here's a song: for him. - Troye Sivan
wooyoung's pov
After hearing San's words, Wooyoung felt butterflies in his stomach even though he knew that San would never actually mean something like that. He stared at San while his face was getting red and couldn't help but admire the way his eyes lit up as he looked at him. He was trying to figure out why San exactly did that since he hated him so much.
Momo ran out of the room frustrated, leaving the two men alone. San's face became even more red, maybe out of anger that was still fuming inside of him or maybe because him and Wooyoung were all alone, which wouldn't be the case because they were alone a couple of times while working on the project for English class. He also hated the fact that San has seen this weak and vulnerable side of him. Breaking the silence between them, San finally spoke.
"Are you okay?", San asked softly, seating himself next to Wooyoung who moved a little because he felt that San was sitting a bit too close to him.
"Why wouldn't I be okay? I'm fine, dude.", Wooyoung lied.
"You don't look okay, Wooyoung.", San said, calling him by his name for the first time ever which made Wooyoung's heartbeat a little faster than it already was.
"Do you want to go outside to get some fresh air?", San asked again after Wooyoung didn't answer his question, Wooyoung nodding his head as a response.
San took him by the wrist and dragged him out of the house, followed by the confused looks of some people that were still dancing to the loud music. When they were outside of the house, San let go of his wrist, which disappointed Wooyoung a little bit. They decided to walk to the dorms without saying a word to each other.
"Why didn't you push her away?", San asked suddenly making Wooyoung's heart skip another beat.
"I don't know.", Wooyoung answered quietly.
san's pov
San has never seen this side of Wooyoung. After his short response, he just continued walking quietly next to him as they were approaching the dorms. The full moon was shining so brightly, giving them some piece of light in this already dark night. San was somehow worried about Wooyoung. But why would he be worried about him, he asked himself. He wasn't even his friend, especially not his boyfriend. He hated the man so much but yet there he was, walking besides Wooyoung and asking him if he was okay. He was confused by his own choice of words and actions that night. Maybe he did have a soft spot for Wooyoung. That thought quickly drifted away as he heard an unfamiliar voice approaching them.
"Long time no see, Woo.", the stranger said.
The sound of the unknown man's voice made Wooyoung shiver in fear, or that's at least what San noticed. In front of them was a tall, brown haired man with plump lips. He was checking Wooyoung out from head to toe, who was now suddenly hiding behind San.
"And who exactly are you, doll?", the stranger asked San this time.
"None of your business, jerk.", San answered angrily, clenching his fist, ready to throw a fit if this man calls him 'doll' again.
"Feisty. Is this your new boyfriend, Woo?", the tall man asked, not getting a response back.
Once again, San wasn't choosing his words carefully. He was telling himself that the reason behind it was the anger he felt building up towards this man that was standing in front of them. Unexpectedly, he took Wooyoung's hand who was still hiding behind him.
"I am. What are you gonna do about it?", San said.
"Ouch. Well, then I'm not gonna bother you anymore Woo. Don't wanna have you if you're already taken, it's no fun like that. You do remember all the fun we used to have?", the stranger said with an evil smirk on his face.
San couldn't take it anymore. His nails were already dug deep into the skin of his hand that wasn't holding Wooyoung's. To release some of his anger, he punched the tall man in the face after which him and Wooyoung left, leaving the man on the street.
San never thought that his night would end up being like this. He wanted to shout at Wooyoung so bad for ruining the evening for him until he looked into the frightened man's eyes once they arrived in front of the building where their dorms were.
"Thank...you.", Wooyoung murmured trying to let go of San's hand, "sorry for dragging you into this mess. You can let go of my hand now, I know how much you hate it."
San swore that he was out of his mind when another crazy thought stormed through his brain.
"Does that man want to hurt you?", San asked him, to which Wooyoung nodded.
"I see. I want you to know that the next thing I'm going to ask you will be only once, okay?", San said nervously while Wooyoung was listening to him carefully.
"If there's a chance that that man won't hurt you if we were together... Would you like me to pretend to be your boyfriend?", San finally asked.
Wooyoung didn't say anything at first. San finally let go of his hand, ready to take back everything that he said even though he really wanted to help him for some unknown reason.
"Forget it, it was a stupid question, I-", before he could finish his sentence, Wooyoung finally spoke.
"I would...appreciate that. You can pretend to be my boyfriend!", the anxious boy answered.

After waking up the next morning, having a terrible headache, San got up quietly not to wake his roommate up who was sleeping on his bed preparing himself for the biggest hangover of his life. He went to the bathroom to search for some painkillers. When he finally found them, he went to the kitchen to pour himself a glass of water. As he took a gulp of water together with the pill, the events from last night started flashing through his head. After realizing that he offered Wooyoung to be his fake boyfriend or something, he felt the vibration of his phone that was in his back pocket, signaling San that he received a message.

hi fake boyfriend...did you sleep well?At that exact moment, San wished to wake up from this nightmare, thinking deep down that the word boyfriend didn't sound as bad as he thought it would.
