The keys were in the ignition, luggage in the trunk of the car and roof down as the radiant heat of Nice in may beat down upon the trio. Rebekah found her way to the passenger seat, placing her shades upon her face. Evelyn moved into the backseats, her gaze looking around the parking lot with such curiosity. It was so different, even from Paris. Everything seemed less compact and more free, maybe the further from New Orleans the more like that Evelyn would feel. Kol took the drivers seat and started up the car, looking to the two girls briefly before he pulled out of the parking lot.

" How far away is Saint Tropez? " Evelyn questioned, leaning forward in her seat and resting her elbows on the backs of their seats. Kol got them onto the main road, moving to place sunglasses onto his face with his free hand. " Just under 2 hours. - " He spoke, turning back to Rebekah who hadn't said a word since they departed the plane. " - so, think you'll go and visit Kathy and watch Gilmore Girls? " The wilder Mikaelson continued with a grin forming on his lips. Rebekah looking to him with a face like thunder, a hand moving to swipe his arm. " you're such an arse! " She exclaimed, turning her head to look towards the road. Blonde hair flowing in the breeze. " i'm never letting you book plane tickets again. " Rebekah remarked, which in turn caused Kol to scoff as they continued to speed down the road.

The car journey was mostly in silence due to Rebekah being in a bad mood from her encounter with Kathy, Kol kept his focus upon the road with his fingers drumming on the wheel to the music coming from the radio. Evelyn had sat back in her seat and was enjoying the sights flowing past them. It fascinated her, seeing how different the world was here compared to New Orleans.. the peace once more lingering in her mind. Maybe somewhere like Saint Tropez would be good for her. She'd moved her hand into the pocket of her jacket in search of her phone but was greeted by a piece of paper lingering within the pouch. Taking the piece of paper out, Evelyn opened it to reveal the note.

'           call Hayley.
    [  +1-202-555-0129 ]               - Freya

Evelyn read over the note again and again and felt a guilt wash over her. Evelyn had left her old phone back at the house and had not shared their new numbers since Kol got them new phones a few days ago. The witch takes out her phone and unlocks it, beginning to type in the numbers on the keypad. " Kol can you turn down the music please? " She questioned, phone now against her ear and waiting for the ringing. Kol glanced back for a moment to see she was on the phone and with a huff turned down the music, he had really be enjoying that song.

the ringing continued for only a few moments before the call was picked up.

" Evelyn?! " Hayley's voice came through on the phone which allowed a small smile to tug at the corner of her lips. Evelyn held the phone tighter as she spoke. " Yeah it's me. " She confirmed, the Hybrid exhaling at the confirmation. " Elijah said you went with Kol and Rebekah? Are you alright? " The motherly concern that she held for Hope sometimes was replicated in her concern for Evelyn, it was something Evelyn wasn't overly used to as her own mother had been rather distant and stern with her but it was welcomed all the same. " I'm fine, we're all fine. Just... getting away from everything. " Evelyn trailed off towards the end. Hayley had wanted her to be out of the chaos that was the Mikaelson lifestyle, the agreement had been that she'd help bring them back and then go back to her normal life... but with normality not being an option anymore this was the next best thing. The witch was sure Hayley would be supportive of the idea, running from danger and keeping safe.

There was a pause for a few moments, the Crescent thinking of how to phrase her words. " ... Why did you go with them Ev? They'll get you into trouble? " Hayley questioned, seemingly through gritted teeth. Evelyn was beginning to feel tense, knowing both of the vampire's sat in front of her could listen in to the call. " well, you don't need me around anymore so- " Evelyn began but was cut off by Hayley scoffing. " -I'll always need you around Ev but, it's just not safe for you. " Evelyn's expression formed into a confused frown. " ... I needed to get away from New Orleans for a while and going back to France might give me a chance to learn more about my ancestors. " Evelyn tried to give a convincing reason as to why she left. Truly she left because Kol had offered her purpose and a way away from the life she once had. Was this a bad decision? Had this now all been a mistake.

Hayley paused once more, taking in a deep breath as she spoke now in a softer tone. " Fine, but please keep in touch... please look after yourself first and them second. - " there's another pause " -... and call me. " Hayley concluded which led to a smile forming on Evelyn's lips. " I will. I promise. " She nods her head slowly at her own words, trying to convince not only Hayley but herself. She'll call, she'll check in and she'll look after herself. " I'll speak to you soon ok? " Evelyn spoke, a gentle tone to match the Hybrids. "... alright. Speak soon. " Hayley returned before the line went dead and Evelyn placed the phone down in her lap.

" What was all that about? " Rebekah questioned as if she hadn't been listening in the whole time.  The witch glanced up whilst placing her phone back into her pocket. " Just Hayley checking on me. " she answered bluntly, turning her attention back to the scenery that they passed. Rebekah deciding not to push further on the matter.
