Hello, hello, here's a bonus chapter and there will be more
These are what ifs or interactions between me (the author) and my characters so I do hope you like these, anyways, what if Weller had to talk with someone that has an entirely different pov on life?
Let's call this person Qristina, she's an optimistic person and someone who always sees the good in life. No matter how bad things are, she always sees light and good
...................................................
Author: Talk with each other about your perspective in life
Weller: Fine.
Qristina: Sure! I'll start, I think that there is good in everything no matter how bad it is and always search for that good!
Weller: Oh? Mind elaborating? *confused*
Qristina: Well, let's say that someone you care about is depressed? It hurts you seeing them depressed, so you try to help them.
Weller: What if your 'help' isn't helping and just make them feel worse which is the case most of the time
Qristina: Well, you're coming from a place of good intentions, right? You can try to get them to go to therapy or listen to them, be a person they trust
Weller: How oblivious. Here's the fucking issue, people don't do that, depression causes you to blame yourself and makes you feel like you're absolute shit. They feel like they're a waste of time so they put on a fake smile because they don't wanna waste anyone's time, don't want pity, unnecessary advice or trust you.
Qristina: You're right, but I said that you need to be a person they trust. Shouldn't that be the first step then? And with what you're saying, try being a good or trustworthy person in general and it shouldn't be because someone is depressed.
Weller: You could argue that you're just trying to be a good person because you're scared of guilt. You're being selfish and desperately trying to avoid guilt and that's how I see every act of kindness. It comes out of fear, it comes out of society's pressure, selfishness, but I'm not saying being a good person is a bad thing. What I'm saying is that everything comes from a place of selfishness.
Qristina: How? What if it's genuine and second nature?
Weller: Second nature is mostly formed, not something that you're simply born with. Sure it may come from genes but again, you can use the argue of selfishness. Because there is no true reason to stay a good person, you stay like that from pressure of society and this pressure causes you to feel guilt if you do something bad.
And when you decide to be rebellious by going against society's pressure then again, it's selfishness. You simply want satisfaction but if you aren't aware how shitty you are, then good job, you're fucking oblivious.
Qristina: But hasn't kindness done good things? Isn't it what causes the world to go forward? Doesn't rebellion make us take risks and go forward even more?
Weller: Ah but, I'm 5034 years. You don't think I don't know that? But, what does it truly do if we're simply ants in the universe? Why does it matter when the sun is gonna swallow everything up on this planet in 4.5 billion years? Is there a point in what we do? No, we are making no impact whatsoever, it's simply an illusion. What will change if we all die? Nothing.
And I'm not trying to deny that I'm selfish, because I'm very selfish. I want excitement and thrill in life but it truly hold no value to me. We can live without emotions, be robots but what's the fun in that? I'm very much aware of what I'm saying and how this goes against my argument from before but I'm simply stating how I see it along with how I feel.
Qristina: *Uncomfortable* Though, shouldn't we atleast be proud of ourselves? Ever heard of the word sonder? It means the realization that everyone has their own story that is equally complex as yours.
Weller: I'm not an idiot, I have heard it and I'll fucking say it once. The ending of the story shows it doesn't matter how complex the story was, it doesn't matter if you're world famous and will be remembered for multiple generations because one day, it will be forgotten. Your impact won't do anything if we're all gonna be swallowed by the sun, it doesn't matter if we move to other planets because we're simply ants in this universe. It won't matter if we defy the laws of the universe, it doesn't matter if we're immortal because I'm next to immortal and fucking hate life because of it. Human nature makes us greedier and greedier to the point where when there is nothing that satisfies us after we defy the laws of the universe, we'll just want fucking death at one point.
We'll try to kill each other but we're immortal, so we want to be mortal again to kill each other. But you know what they say, the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence so we'll never be truly satisfied. We make no impact truly, I have seen this so many times and it's constantly history repeating itself.
Qristina: ...But why can't we make a change to that then? Why can't we change human nature?
Weller: Because you've already seen how technology affects us, it used to fascinate us in the beginning but then we got greedy as it stopped fascinating us and now we want better and newer technology because it keeps getting boring after a while, we simply want more and more which is a perfect example of my fucking point.
Qristina: *Complete shock from everything Weller said*
Author: She is definitely not ok from your words Wellerman, you and scp-682 could be friends
