14-year-old student park sunghoon. dark hair, slim body, tall, glowy skin, pretty eyes, intelligent, and a complete gentleman. everything a middle school girl wanted.
it was no secret that sunghoon was everyone's crush. constantly receiving notes and gifts, only to reject them.
so when he received that note on his locker that one friday afternoon, it was no surprise. usually, he'd simply ignore it. but this time was different. maybe it was the neat handwriting in which "meet me at the park 10 minutes after the bell rings" was written. or maybe it was the little sun that replaced the signature on the little note.
something about the situation made sunghoon eager to find out who was behind this.
it was a surprise for everyone to see sunghoon wait after the bell rang when he'd usually leave immediately. but no one intruded, so sunghoon made his way over to the park exactly seven minutes after the bell rang.
sitting on a bench was kim sunoo. oh, sunghoon definitely knew him. it was impossible to not know that ray of sunshine. everyone in school adored him. but sunghoon was confused as to why he'd be the one telling him to meet him at the park in such a secretive way.
"oh, sunghoon. you're early. hi." sunghoon's eyes immediately landed on the boy's hair. a few daisies adorned his dark hair. the way the sun reflected on his eyes was something sunghoon knew he wouldn't be getting out of his mind for a long time.
"um, yeah. you wanted to talk?"
sunoo simply nodded, as he took his bag and carefully fished out a package of sunghoon's favorite chocolates. and a daisy.
"sunghoon... i like you."
as soon as the words left sunoo's lips, sunghoon froze. it was no different than any other confession, so why had he reacted this way?
after long minutes of silence, sunoo was convinced there was something wrong. sunoo's hands wouldn't stop shaking. a loud sigh was what finally broke the older's trance.
"sung-"
"i'm sorry i-i i have to go" and with that, sunghoon ran off to god knows where, leaving the younger boy with an empty feeling in his chest.
that was the first time sunoo's heart broke, he saw it coming from the start, but a part of him was still upset, maybe even disappointed. he put the gifts back in his bag and started walking back home.
"i can't believe i missed the bus for this." a sarcastic laugh left his lips as he talked to himself.
and if anyone saw sunoo picking the daisies out of his hair and throwing them away as he walked home, nobody said anything.
