"so what i'm hearing is... you have no affective responsibility"
"thanks for pointing out the obvious yeji" sunghoon said sarcastically while rubbing his face.
he had to admit the weight in his chest lightened after venting to his sister, but he still had one problem.
yeji was brutally honest, so any criticism he received from her was bound to end up with sunghoon crying himself to sleep for the next few days.
he watched as his sister fixed her position on his bed, sighing deeply. "you don't deserve jay" she deadpanned.
"however..."
sunghoon looked at her curiously.
"it's not entirely your fault. i know mom and dad haven't been the best role models for us, but you still have a chance to make things right. you should find jay and be honest with him for once"
"don't you think he would hate me if i told him?"
"he probably hates you already so, i guess there's not much to lose" she shrugged.
the older stayed quiet for a while, analyzing his sister's words. he hated whenever yeji was right about anything, and to his misfortune, she happened to be right every time she talked.
"let's say i do talk to him, what happens next?" he asked, hoping she would say something comforting.
"don't ask me, i barely survived middle school" she sassed.
sunghoon silently chuckled as yeji exited his room. taking his phone out, he dialed the number of the one person he'd been trying to avoid.

"jakeee, i'm being for real here!" sunoo panted as he chased sim jaeyun around the basketball court, failing each and every attempt at stealing the ball from him.
"so am i sunshine, take this from me and i'll tell you whatever you want to know" he teased, his signature smirk present at all times.
this little game of his went on for about 15 more minutes until jake got distracted and sunoo was able to snatch the ball from his hands, smiling victoriously.
"jesus, no wonder no one likes to play with you"
jake pouted, pretending to be hurt by the younger's comment. "i'll have you know i do have a friend to play with, he left before you got here 'cause sunghoon called" he announced nonchalantly.
sunoo suddenly froze in his spot, "who's this friend you're talking about?"
"jay park, the american kid i sit with at lunch" he answered, completely oblivious to the way sunoo's expression dropped once he heard that familiar name.
"oh"
"forget about that though" jake chuckled, "what did you want to ask me about earlier?"
sunoo sighed, there was no way jake could be clueless at this point. "actually... i changed my mind, i have to get home soon so, goodbye jake"
jake frowned as he watched the younger boy turn on his heel and begin walking towards the exit, he may be clueless about most things, but he knows when his friends aren't feeling okay.
"hold on, sunoo!"
the boy stayed in place as jake jogged over to him, giving him an unexpected hug.
sunoo remained shocked for a few seconds, but accepted the embrace by laying his head on the older boy's shoulder, sighing deeply as he felt some of his pink locks being played with.
as they broke the hug, jake flashed him a much needed reassuring smile. "call me if you need anything, m'kay?"
"i will hyung, thanks"
although a part of him was sad, sunoo went back home with an unusual sense of comfort. for the first time in a while, instead of being everyone's shoulder to lean on, he felt like there was someone he could lean on too.
