the spring breeze messed with sunoo's silky locks as they stepped outside the school building. as opposed to the duo that walked into school this morning, they had now become three.

he should've seen it coming, jake always liked to invite others to whatever it was he chose to do. however, he didn't expect sunghoon would be the one to join them.

"i'll sit in the back" sunoo chirps as they reach the car, quickly shutting the door behind him as he got in.

through his logic, sitting in the passenger's seat would imply having to use the rear view mirror to look at sunghoon, but also pay attention to jake while being his copilot.

even worse, if he looked at one boy more than the other it would make him look suspicious. jake could find out about his crush on sunghoon, or sunghoon could misunderstand and assume him and jake were a thing.

either way, his life would be ruined, so the backseat was the only right decision.

"i don't mind sitting in the back y'know, this was you guys' hangout anyways"

"no way! in my house the youngest always goes in the back" he smiles forcibly, hoping it would be convincing enough to keep sunghoon from insisting any further.

"i thought they said the youngest always goes first" jake comments.

sunoo's cheeks turn bright red as he quickly dismisses the older's words by mumbling "whatever" and turning to face the window.

the upperclassmen made small talk on their way to the restaurant, but sunoo didn't pay much mind to them, instead nodding his head to the rythm of the justin bieber song playing on his earphones.

he wasn't big on western artists, but jake's music taste had managed to rub off on him after one too many at-home concerts.

soon enough they reached vatos, a popular mexican style food parlor near their school, it brought back many memories from jake and sunoo's childhood when mrs. kim would order takeout for their sleepovers.

on the other hand, sunghoon was feeling overwhelmed by the mix of scents and sounds that emitted from the beautifully decorated restaurant.

the trio sits on a booth near the kitchen/bar, getting a nice view of the chefs in action. almost immediately, a waitress walks over and hands them each a menu folder.

"i think i'm gonna order eomma's usual, you in?" jake says after a quick glance, he'd been planning this meal from the moment he stepped out of bed.

sunoo nods happily at his proposal, soon noticing the indecisive look on sunghoon's face, he was probably having some trouble choosing from the dozens of options in the large pamphlet.

"you could get the same as us, my mom always ordered the chicken chimichurri tacos with some supreme nachos, they taste like heaven!" he smiles pointing to the menu image, sunghoon mirrored his expression and accepted.

the waitress walks over and they place their orders, now waiting eagerly for their food to arrive.

"ugh, this is the best thing i've ever eaten" sunghoon sighs as he takes his last bite, though his concerned expression did not match his words at all.

"i know man, this place is amazing" jake chuckles as he slides sunoo's plate to his side of the table, receiving a small pat on his shoulder from the youngest.

"i'm gonna go look for the bathroom, my hands feel all sticky" sunoo announces as he gets up from his seat, leaving the two boys on their own.

"mind if i go too?" sunghoon asks jake, who shakes his head nonchalantly before sending him off.

as sunghoon steps into the large restroom, he finds sunoo facing a mirror with both hands firmly holding either sides of the sink.

little droplets fell from the tip of his nose and chin making the older believe he had been crying, but as he stepped closer, he realized that was not the case.

"oh hey, are we leaving?" sunoo perks up from his original position, quickly wiping off any excess water from his face.

the older shakes his head, moving closer. "jake's still eating, i just wanted too wash my hands as well"

sunoo's eyes widen as he immediately steps aside for sunghoon to take his place by the sink. he could feel his heart pounding rapidly though it was such a minimal interaction.

"you know, jake doesn't fall for people often. it's a pretty rare sight" sunghoon says out of the blue.

"i guess so. he's very flirty, but he's not someone who gives his heart away so easily"

sunghoon nods with a smile, reaching for the dispenser in front of him to dry his hands.

"in that case, you must be a really lucky person"

the rustling of the paper towel in sunghoon's hands becomes muted, and sunoo can feel the color flushing from his cheeks. whatever the older was implying, he refused to believe it.

he remains quiet for a moment as an attempt to gain some composure. a stiffened chuckle escapes his lips as he turns to face the older boy.

"like i said, jake is pretty flirty with everyone. it's not any different from the way he treats me"

sunoo leaves the restroom without saying another word. there was a knot in his throat that wouldn't go away, like his body knew he was lying.

except he wasn't, there was no way in hell jake would see him as more than a friend... right?
