the bell rang on the final day of school, and a young jake dashed through the corridors in hopes to find his best friend kim sunoo before he left the premises.

just as he imagined, the younger boy came out of the classroom right after the wave of students passed by, he wasn't a big fan of crowds.

once their eyes met, the elder didn't hesitate to go over and hug his little sun as tightly as ever.

"sunshine! how was your last day? i didn't see you at lunch, you feeling good?"

"hey jakey.. i'm fine, i was just busy getting some stuff"

the brunette raised a brow, "really, what for?"

"just something i want to do before it's too late"

that sentence was odd coming from sunoo, but jake didn't question it. he simply grabbed the younger's hand and led him to the exit.

"so, since i'm graduating middle school eomma wanted to have a graduation dinner with my family. she said she'll make my favorite food, i'm kinda excited"

"that's really nice jakey" the younger smiled, "will your brother come over to celebrate?"

"maybe, but i'm not focused on him, i'm focused on you. you'll come over, right?"

the younger could feel the insistent gaze on him, making him feel small despite being a little taller than jake. their eyes met and he smiled softly while nodding, "of course i'll come"

"then we have to hurry, the bus arrives soon and you know the old man doesn't like to wait" the older laughed as they left.

while they arrived at the bus stop, jake couldn't help but notice the dozens of daisies that had bloomed around the school, giving the environment a spring vibe.

he let go of the younger's hand for a moment, running towards the flowers to pick out the smaller ones and place them in sunoo's hair.

sunoo watched as he came back with a little bouquet of daisies and felt himself blush as jake began decorating his hair.

"you're all out of pins, but real flowers look prettier on you anyways" he giggled as he placed the last one right behind his ear, backing away a bit to admire his friend's beauty.

"you're so pretty, kim sunoo"

"i'm so embarrassed right now" he laughed rather nervously, covering his face with his hands and groaning as he leaned on jake's chest. "you're so corny"

"maybe i am, but i mean every word" he sighed hugging him.

suddenly, sunoo's head shot up and he looked around frantically for his watch, realizing he had left it at home this morning.

"jakey, what time is it?"

"it's 4:37 and, now that you mention it, it's kinda weird that mr. choi hasn't picked us up yet"

"crap" sunoo muttered, "i have to go do something at the park, i'll be right back"

as he was about to run off jake grabbed his hand, stopping him.

"but sun, what if mister choi arrives?"

"it won't take long, if i miss the bus i'll just walk home" sunoo assured him.

"you won't miss my graduation dinner, will you?"

"i'll be there jakey, it's a promise"

it's a promise.

ironically enough, those three words marked the last time they ever talked to each other.

sunoo did miss the bus, and he never showed up to dinner with jake's family.

he was too ashamed to go apologize, and he didn't have the guts to respond any of jake's texts after the big letdown, all because he stayed behind and confessed his crush on park sunghoon.
