since jake was still in the shower, the youngest decided to keep looking through his toy box to see what other secrets his friend kept from him.

sure, he knew it was wrong to snoop through jake's belongings, but he wronged sunoo first by not telling him that he had kept his daisy clips.

come on jakey, is there something else you're hiding from me?

before he could continue, his alternate phone began to vibrate, catching his attention.

this was the one he used to attend the hotline, he always carried it with him in case of a "love emergency", although perhaps bringing it to jake's house was not the best idea.

he slid his thumb over the screen and smiled as if someone was watching, trusting jake's delay too much.

"heartbreak hotline, how can i help you?" he answered enthusiastically.

he payed close attention to the caller before speaking again.

"oh sure, i'll write down everything right aw—"

"what are you doing?"

the poor boy almost had a heart attack when he saw his friend standing in front of the door with arms folded.

"i'm so sorry, i'll call you back as soon as i can okay?" he said as he hung up. "jake i swear i can explain this"

the brunette raised a brow at him, "explain that you're the owner of the hotline or explain what my toy box is doing outside my closet?"

shit.

"i-i promise i wasn't doing anything bad, i just got bored and well—"

jake laughed, "you found them, right? your clips" he said walking closer.

he took sunoo's hand that still held the small bag, smiling softly.

"when we were little i used to take them off your hair during recess or at your house when you fell asleep on the couch. i really liked them because they looked cute on you, and i guess i took them because i wanted to keep something to remind me of you forever. sorry i didn't tell you sooner, i know how much it annoyed you to lose them"

their eyes met and sunoo blushed, feeling unable to respond to the way jake was looking at him.

"i think the fairest thing to do would be to return them" the older boy smiled.

"y-yeah... i guess" sunoo replied, finally managing to focus. "but why would you do that? we were kids, it's not like you knew i would die in the near future or something"

"what am i gonna know? that was years ago sunoo, i hardly remember what i had for breakfast yesterday"

the younger one laughed, at least jake didn't seem to be upset.

"by the way, i won't tell anyone about the hotline, i'm not that gossipy. however..." he tapped his lips pretending to think.

"oh just say it, sim" sunoo rolled his eyes.

"obviously i hope you'll tell me about the school dramas you've heard in return" he smiled mischievously.

the blond giggled softly while nodding.

you never change, do you jakey?
