"park sunghoon, your boyfriend's here!" yeji called from the bottom of the staircase, her eyes quickly met sunghoon's as he came down with an annoyed face.

"yeji-ah! i told you he's not my—"

the boy stopped on his tracks once he realized jay had been beside yeji the whole time, and he had very obviously seen the unamused look on sunghoon's face.

"i- uh.. hey" he nearly whispered, jay waved at him in response. there was a weird tension between the two that had been going on for a few weeks, perhaps it was the reason sunghoon called the hotline in the first place.

the pair bid goodbye to sunghoon's sister and mother before leaving the house. they stayed silent until they reached jay's car, deep sighs escaping their lips once the doors closed.

"so... i'm not your boyfriend?"

sunghoon stayed silent for a moment.

"i didn't mean it like that" he gulped, unable to make eye contact with the older male.

"how did you mean it though?" jay questioned, "sunghoon-ah, do you even love me?"

"what? o-of course i love you, how can you even ask that"

"it doesn't really seem that way, but i'll trust you" he mumbled before driving off.

it was always like this, they managed to kill the mood so quickly, yet neither of them tried to do something about it.

they weren't exactly happy, but they had to be together, it was only logical. everyone just assumed that their weird dynamic was due to them being so new to love, not to mention they were both pretty young.

"it'll work out with time" was the phrase sunghoon always heard from his parents, but deep down he knew it was a lie, everyone just seemed to be in denial of it.
