"i missed being here" sunoo giggled as he threw himself on the bed, inhaling the scent of jake's cologne that still lingered in the sheets.
the older mimicked his actions and sighed, "i missed having you here, sunshine"
turning to face him, sunoo's brows furrowed curiously, "ah really? i thought mr. popular didn't need me anymore with all the new pea-brains he's met in high school" he teased.
though he said it in a playful way, jake could tell sunoo felt slightly bitter about it.
"it's not like you made any efforts to talk to me either" he teased, and soon a light shade of pink crept up the younger's cheeks in embarrassment.
he was right, sunoo gave up on their friendship the moment he saw someone "replace" him as jake's best friend, and that someone just so happened to be sunghoon's current boyfriend, jay park.
"wanna start over?"
sunoo raised a brow.
"i mean like, you're so different from before, and i'd like to see if my little sunshine is still in there" he said, gently poking the younger boy's nose.
"you're so corny" sunoo laughed, making jake pout at him.
"ah, this is what i get for trying to show that i love you" he whined and turned his back on sunoo, pretending to be mad.
"i'm teasing you jakey" he giggled, "c'mon, let's clean your room and watch old movies like we used to"
the younger propped himself up on jake's side and innocently smiled at him, unaware of the feelings he provoked on his friend by doing so.

"you're here"
"you sound surprised"
jay chuckled softly.
"is it really so weird for me to make the first move on anything?" sunghoon questioned with a little smirk, earning a nod from jay.
the pair sat in silence for a short while. there was so much to say, yet troubled breaths seemed to be the only thing that could escape their lips.
that was until sunghoon broke the silence.
"i know i haven't been honest with you, and i know you deserve an explanation, so i'll give it to you now"
sunghoon sighed.
"remember our last date, when you asked if i loved you?"
"yeah, sorry for asking that" jay whispered, playing with the ring on his left hand out of nervousness.
"its not you who needs to apologize, jay. it's completely my fault, i should've told you the truth that day"
"w-what?"
though he had practiced this conversation a million times in his head, nothing could compare to the absolute pit that formed in his stomach once his eyes met jay's.
there was a single feeling washing over his body, one that didn't allow him to even hear anything around him, it was guilt.
even then, it was already evident that jay was inevitably disappointed, so he had no other choice than to keep talking.
"i don't love you in the way everyone expects me to. i've tried to fall for you so many times but it's just not there, and i'm so sorry for that"
"oh"
