yeji rushed downstairs after hearing the 'ding' sound of the doorbell, opening up to find a familiar boy standing at the entrance.

"oh hey yeji, is sunghoon home?"

"actually he just left to go find you"

jay blinked twice, slightly dumbfounded by what he heard. sunghoon wanted to find me?

"earth to jay, you okay there?" yeji waved at him, successfully bringing him out of his short trance.

"y-yeah i'm good, it's just that sunghoon making the first move was..."

"unexpected? yeah i know, it's about time he pulled himself together" she rolled her eyes, causing jay to giggle.

he was actually pretty fond of the little girl, she was the only one within both families who wasn't biased about their relationship.

"i was actually surprised when he called me yesterday, he said he wanted to talk about something"

just as he was done speaking, his phone buzzed with a notification from the boy in question, reading "please come to the ice cream shop downtown"

jay's lips inevitably curled up into a smile, beaming with happiness at the thought of seeing sunghoon again after such a long week.

"i'm guessing that's my nut job of a brother" yeji sighed leaning against the door as jay nodded, quickly thanking the girl before leaving to meet sunghoon.

"eomma, can sunoo stay over this weekend?"

"you didn't have to yell it like that! jesus this is so embarrassing..."

"what's wrong sunshine? you're the one who wanted to come here" jake teased, guiding the younger towards the kitchen with his hand gently placed on the back of sunoo's neck.

there stood jake's mother, who was humming along to some IU song as she prepared dinner. she looked up to greet the boys, beaming with joy as soon as she recognized sunoo's face.

"sunoo my dear, you've grown so much!" she exclaimed engulfing the boy in a tight hug as she continued complimenting his changes.

despite sunoo being younger, him and jake were inseparable up until middle school.

he spent more time with jake's family than his own, but stopped visiting after the sunghoon issue, which caused him to dissociate from everything and everyone.

he did try to get back to jake once he reached high school, though. but seeing jake get so popular and have so many older friends made him feel like he was no longer needed.

"it's good to see you again, eomma" he smiled.

their little moment was interrupted by jake insistently staring at his mother, "so, can he sleep over?"

"once you clean your room, sure" she said, then turned to sunoo whispering "don't let him lead you in there, that place is a dumpster"

"aw c'mon man it's not that bad, i cleaned it last week!"

"i'll be the judge of that" sunoo smiled, quickly dashing upstairs with jake chasing after him.
