"What was all that about?" Nancy asks as we get in her car driving away for the trailer park. "Steve wanting to be a protective boyfriend again." Robin smiles at me in the back seat. "He's just being a protective friend." I correct her. "Wait, are you two not together anymore? Why don't you keep me up with things?" Nancy asks. "Long story short... I was having nightmares about Billy and I wanted space. Steve took me saying I need space as if I breaking up with him. He left my place and went on a date two weeks later. So yes, we aren't together anymore." I keep it short.
"You know he still loves you right? He just doesn't know how to fix it." Robin tells me. "I don't care. If he wants to fix us, it better come from him not you or Dustin. And he better hurry before it's too late." I tell her truthfully. "Right... because you might give Eddie a chance if he was to ever ask you out." She rolls her eyes. "You like Eddie?" Nancy asks. "I wouldn't say no if he asked me out... Now where are we going?" I ask her wanting to change the topic. "Eddie's uncle told me the way Chrissy died has happened before. A man named Victor Creel killed his family the same way in the 50s and thinks he escape from Pennshurst Asylum." She keeps it short as he drives us to the library.
When we get there Robbin recaps everything Nancy told us on the way here, "So, that means these murders predate Eleven and the Upside Down by about 30 years?" Robins says as we go inside. "Yeah." Nancy tells her. "Which makes spooky Victor Creel like 70 years old. So, he's a grandpa murderer who can turn invisible and lift people into the air." Robin says making me look at her. "It doesn't make sense. I know. That's why I said it was a shot in the dark." Nancy tells her. "I know. I just thought that, by shot it the dark, you were being modest or hiding something super solid up your sleeve that you were gonna wow us with later. But this is like really, truly a shot in the dark." Robin goes on as Nancy rings the bell. "Robin..." I cut her off as she keeps going, "You're doing that thing where your brain is moving faster than your mouth." I say making her shut up.
"Plus there's gonna be something to connect what happened then to now. Am I the only one who thinks it's impossible for a normal person to snap bones the way Chrissy and Fred died?" I say making the two of them look at me. "Coming!" The lady calls out coming up to us. "Hi. Sorry, we're in a bit of a rush. Could we get the keys to the basement archives?" Nancy asks her and the woman said of course going to get them. "Did I come off mean or condescending?" Robin turns to Nancy. "No." She tells her. "Sorry. It's just, you seem annoyed. You don't know me very well. I really don't have a filter or a strong grasp of social cues. So if I say something that upsets you, just know that I know it's a flaw. Believe me, my mother reminds me daily." Robin tells her so I rub her back as the woman hand Nancy the keys. "We'll try." Nancy walks off first. "Come on, Robin." I put my arm around her shoulder. "It's because I don't have a filter right?" She looks at me. "Nancy has never been very patient or childish/fun." I whisper to her. "So she can't stand me?" Robin asks. "It's kinda like us with Steve at times..." I expect and she gets it.
