February 18th, 1986

"You're staring at Vickie..." I quietly sing to Robin as we sit at a table in the library.

"I'm not staring." She kicks me under the table.

"Ouch." I bring my leg up to rub it.

"I wasn't staring." She glares at me.

"Fine, you weren't staring." I pout making Robin apologize for kicking me.

"What's your Tuesday plans? Skipping work again?" She asks working on our history paper.

"I'm picking you up down the street correct?" Eddie comes up from behind wrapping his arms around my shoulders leaning on me.

"Yeah, I told my mom I was riding my bike to work and I don't know how long Keith is making my shift." I turn my head to give him a smile.

"Great, I'll be there waiting at 5 for you Ky." He pats the top of my head before leaving.

"What?" I ask as Robin eyes me.

"What was all that?" She uses her finger motioning to me.

"Me telling Eddie yes about our plans for tonight." I raise an eyebrow.

"Do you like him?" She gets worried.

"He's my friend so yes... I like him." I nod my head.

"You know what I mean, Sky. Are you actually moving on from Steve?" She leans forward on the table.

"No, I'm not moving on... yet. Part of me has hope but who knows. Eddie is just a friend whose a really sweet guy." I tell her the truth.

"Could you ever see yourself getting with him when you move on?" She asks.

"Who knows." I shrug getting up from the table to put a book back. "Hey you..." I stop Dustin looking at some books.

"What now? Do I have to cover for you again?" He crosses his arms.

"I pay you at least." I cross my arms too.

"What now? Is it Eddie again? Of course it is. Since Steve hasn't come back it's always Eddie." He slightly smiles.

"Hey, hanging out with Eddie actually helped get rid of the nightmares. He did what Steve didn't want to do again. Lose one friend get another. I'm trying to be positive don't bring me down." I tell him.

"How late tonight?" He asks.

"I don't know. Tonight Corroded Coffin is playing at The Hideout. I have to be the one sober one in a crowd of five drunks." I say making Dustin laugh.

"Sober my ass. If you don't come slightly drunk then you're high every time your out past midnight with Eddie. And you hate that shit."

"I do hate it but I'm out having fun with a friend... would you rather have me be at home sad about Steve and still having nightmares?" I ask him.

"No but... I'm just looking out for you. If mom finds out about everything you do with Eddie she's gonna lose it." He tells me.

"But she won't because I have you to watch my back. I love you." I give him a smile.

"I love you too." He says so I leave.

When it was five I tell mom I gotta get going to work and she tells me to be safe riding my bike. Dustin of course shook his head at me but still have me a thumbs up. I make it to the end of the street and see Eddie parked and waiting for me.

"Need help putting your bike in?" He asks rolling down his window.

"I'm good." I say opening the back putting my bike in with no problems before getting in the front.
