February 1985
It's been a month has passed since Billy told me he wanted to be more than friends and it scared me. Mainly because his father would never like a whore in his house but also how many girls are head over heels for him. Both of us haven't brought it up to each other, and we just go on with our lives as friends. Which is the best thing we can do because deep down, I don't feel like it would work out well.
At school, Billy and I don't really make our friendship well known because of his friends. Outside of school though, we hang out at places kids from school don't usually go, or it's at one of our houses. Steve and I have gotten even more closer in and out of school. He's always coming over, not to just hang out with me, but also Dustin too which makes me happy. Dustin has a good guy to look up to and have fun with that's not part of the party.
"Have you finished the math packet yet, Sky?" Nancy asks, flipping through hers.
"Yeah, I finished last week." I let her know.
"Have you not started?" Jonathan asks and I see that there was barely any work on the paper.
"Not really." She sighs.
"It's due Monday." I tell her, and she goes on about how she knows.
"Let's go walk around." Steve got up throwing his trash away pulling me out into the empty hallway leaving the other two confused. The halls were vacant not a single soul was seen inside as we walked around. "Let's just stop and hang out here till it's time to go to class." Steve says sliding down the wall sitting on the floor.
"Do you hear the music playing in the band room? That's my jam." I start to dance to the radio that was playing in the band room down the hall.
"You're such a dork, Skylar." Steve laughed at me and I go to pull him up to dance with me.
"Steve, come on, dance with me. No one is here to see you." I pout and he stands up dancing with me as we both laugh.
"You know, I may have said this but I'm going to say it again. I'm very grateful that we became friends." Steve says still holding my hands but stops dancing making me do the same.
"I'm very grateful too, Steve." I lead us to the wall and I let go of his hands to sit down. Instead of sitting next to me Steve lays down using my lap for a pillow. "Believe it or not, I never thought I would ever be friends with the Steve Harrington." I look down at him running my fingers through his hair. "Fuck, I wouldn't believe myself if I went back in time and told myself, someday you'll be friends with Harrington running your fingers through his hair in an empty school hallway." I laugh and Steve sighs, nodding his head.
"I wouldn't believe myself either." He looks up at me with a sad smile.
After the last bell rang for us to go home for the weekend, Steve walked me to my car since he was parked next to me. "What time are you coming over?" I ask Steve as we walk to the parking lot.
"I was going to head home to get a few things together for the night then run to the store to get snacks then head your way. So I have no exact time to give to you" He unlocks his car door then leans on the top of his car.
"Okay, that sounds good to me. I'll swing by the video store and pick up some movies then. See you whenever you show up at my place." I smile and receive a head nod.
"Sounds good to me. See you whenever." He gets in his car and drives off.
As I get in my car, my passenger door opens and Billy slides in quickly confusing me. "Umm... What are you doing?" I ask instead of starting my car.
