What the fuck. What the actual fuck?
No. No, no, no, no. This was too much to handle.
Mother's tits, what the hell was happening?
Cassian had instantly gone into warrior mode when the screaming had started. Had torn into those beasts without a second glance. Sliced through them until there were no more on land. And then he took to the skies, his brother at his back. Together, he and Azriel vanquished them all.
He had been surprised, of course, to see Celaena out of the manor. And had panicked. And debated if he should stay and protect his brother's mate, or his people. He had been so panicked that he hadn't even noticed her ears when he told her to go back to the house. He now knew that Celaena had done no such thing. No, the girl had formed a glorious blade of fire and killed any creature within her sight.
Cassian had seen her fighting before the rest of them. Had swallowed his shock and continued killing. The general had seen the fear on his brother's face. An expression that had never before been expressed on the battlefield. Because Azriel was a lethal weapon during a fight, void of emotion. But there he was, taking glances around the city as he fought off Hybern's beasts. He must have noticed that Celaena had stepped out of the protective wards in the manor.
Finally, when the skies were empty besides for the two of them, Azriel had flown down, immediately searched for Celaena, calling out to her, the desperation rooted in his voice. And relief on his face when he finally noticed her.
Such relief that his brother did not notice all the corpses lying around her. The general in Cassian appreciated the girl's form, admired the elegant swings of her blade. Celaena truly was a killer, lethal power shone in her eyes.
His heart broke just a bit. It broke for his brother, who was looking at his mate with confusion while she looked back at him in pity.
A girl that was so much more than a mere human with a dozen scars and hundreds of secrets.
Celaena was fae.
Or Aelin, was it.
Cassian honestly did not think anything could top the girl's revealed identity. But then Amren came in and made another revelation.
Celaena- Aelin, was not from their world.
The only way Amren could possibly know that is if Aelin was from-
Just as he had been connecting the dotes, Amren said, "I'm hurt," Faint amusement in her eyes. "You don't recognize your own aunt?"
Aunt.
Aunt.
The centuries-old tiny female was her aunt.
What the actual fuck.
Aelin seeme to share his sentiment when she took a step back, eyes wide with horror, "Maeve-"
Amren in turn grimaced. "Gods no, try again."
Blue-gold eyes looked elsewhere for a second before sudden realization filled her face. "Mab?"
Amren shrugged her shoulders. "Close enough. You mortals think think we're the same person anyway."
"Holy fuck." The golden girl said, "You're Deanna."
"I always knew you were a clever one, niece."
Cassian thought that his head was going to explode. "Can someone please explain what the fuck is happening?"
As if realizing that they weren't the only two there, the pair turned towards the rest of them.
Aelin opened her mouth before furrowing her eyebrows and biting her lower lip.
Amren- or Deanna looked at Rhys. "Let us tend to our dead and wounded, we'll talk later."
