The assassin froze as did Rhysand. Her body abruptly turned cold, her pleasure, her need disappearing. All she felt was utter embarrassment and shame. The realization that this was after all an act came surfing back. She was horrified. Horrified that she had been so aroused with Rhysand's touches. So terrified that she stayed there frozen.

Should she say something? Should she apologize to the male? Unsure of what to do, Aelin did nothing.

It's alright. It's not your fault.

The voice in her head spoke. Except it wasn't her voice. No, it is distinctly male, and undeniably Rhysand's.

Rhysand was in her head. He was speaking to her through her mind. Terror replaced Aelin's shame as her mind scrambled to understand what it meant. How was he able to do that? Why? Has he always had access to her mind? Then he must know everything-

Celaena, please calm down-

But that was the exact opposite of what Aelin was doing. On the exterior, Aelin looked lost in her lust, her face tinted with red. Only her and Rhysand knew that she wasn't blushing.

Get out. Get out-

Aelin tried to expel him out of her mind to no avail.

It's because of the blood oath. I didn't-

The assassin had regained some of her sense at that.

What?

The blood oath, it gives us access to each other.

You said you hadn't gotten access. That you haven't seen anything.

Her feelings had been replaced and rearranged in the last five minutes. So much so that it was rage which was now possessing her. Rage for being made a fool of, rage for allowing Rhysand to make a fool of her.

Please! Please, I never lied. In the past, I didn't have access. It was the first time...

Aelin only managed to conjure up one word.

Explain.

Your mind is usually closed off. But today...well, I suppose it was focused elsewhere.

This time, she did blush.

And whose fault is that?
