Kye Roman Grey is the future Beta of the Redback Pack and he wouldn't want it any other way. He was so glad he wasn't born first, in fact, he was a good 16 years younger than his sister. From what he knew of the past, his mother had his sister after a one-night stand with his father, and only told him about her when she was sixteen years old. That also happened to be about the same time when his sister had found her mate, the current Beta of the pack, Beta Roman. The two were animals. It didn't matter where they were, or what they had to do, the two were always fucking. Once, he had caught them in the pool, in the garage, on his bed...they were literal animals. He needs to get out of the house before he when crazy. He walked into the kitchen where he saw his parents kissing. That wasn't exactly new either. Their "honeymoon phase" lasted their entire marriage...and 35 years later, they are still as bad as when they had first met. Aunt Emily always told the story of how she caught them in the act on top of her dining table. But that was beside the point, he was a young adolescent werewolf, and being around so much sex, was taking a toll on his pledge of abstinence until he found his mate. He wanted her to be the one to take his virginity. He knew it was a little old fashion, but he had seen the consequences for men who slept around with women inside the pack and how their mates were treated because of it. He didn't want that for his mate, whoever she may be.

"Mom, I need to get out of this house. Everyone is either being fucked or doing the fucking."

Kye complained as Autumn could understand his frustration. Looking from his perspective, it must be a very difficult position for a 16-year-old wolf. He had chestnut hair, but his eyes were the color of amethyst, which made him seem a little wise for his age.

"Sorry about that. But when you find your mate you'll understand the animal magnetism that draws you together. That's just a part of being mates."

Autumn said trying to reason with her son. Kye didn't understand what was so interesting about mates, if he found one fine, if he didn't, it wasn't the end of the world. He could care less about finding one. His main goal in life is to be the best Beta possible, so he could protect her, his family, and his pack. He needed to be better....his life was in service of his sister, not some fictional mate, that may or may not appear.

"I don't have time for a mate mom. Besides, I have my duties as a future Beta and I have border patrol right now."

Kye said as he walked away from his mother.

"You're young. You'll understand what I'm saying the moment you find your mate."

Autumn teased as Kye walked away from her unconvinced.

"Thankfully that day isn't today."

Kye said as he sprinted off and transformed into his chestnut wolf. He was bigger than all the other members of the pack except for his older sister and father, but his wolf was most definitely the fastest. He sprinted through the forest and followed the path along the river. Kye's wolf was called Hiad, a name that meant underworld. His wolf was extremely wild and dangerous, he doesn't submit to the authority of either his father or sister. Hiad only submitted to the authority of his mother, which was ironic because his mother doesn't have a wolf...she is completely human. Hiad ignore his thoughts as saw tracks along the river Bank. He lowered his nose to the ground and picked up the scent of a rouge wolf. His wolf watched cautiously from the safety of the grass along the river's banks. The wolf was female, and she looks to be alone. But then again he could let his guard down, it could have very well been a trap. It wouldn't be the first time. Hiad growled loudly to alert the rouge of his presence. The wolf was beautiful. She had a snow-white coat with hints of black running throughout its coat. 'Mate.' Hiad said confidently as Kye stared at the female in front of him. Kye shift to his human form and donned shorts he had hidden behind a tree. He held his t-shirt in his hands.
