A beer for two

"Soooo"

The locker door slams shut. With a mischievous grin, Street turns around and leans against his locker. He probably tries to look sexy or something, but it's actually kind of cute. Or it was kind of cute, for the first time, and maybe the second. Now it's just fucking irritating. And a little bit brazen, too.

"Street, don't", I warn him, in a friendly way. I even manage to smile. Afterall, he is kind of cute, even now, I can't deny that. "You know the answer."

He looks offended right away. "Hey, I just wanted to ask if we would drink a beer together!"

"Just"

"Yes, just." He changes his tune as though he pretends he's the reasonable one now. "Sometimes a beer is just a beer, Chris."

Slinging the backpack over my shoulder, I walk out of the locker room, giving him one last questioning smile.

"It's not gonna happen, Street", I tell him firmly. Not for the first time, though. "You gotta make your peace with that. There are thousands of other girls in L.A., why don't you go hit on them?"

Street doesn't look like he's about to give an answer, and I don't wait for one. I leave without another look back.

Dating team members is against the rules, the S.W.A.T. ones as well as my own. I don't date cops, that's just a no-go. It's different for a lady cop like me, who is on top of everything the only woman in our department. If Street dates me, the supervisors are the only ones that will care, and just because of the policy. If I date him, I'd be the slut of the police department, nobody will ever gonna take me seriously again.

I couldn't do that to my career.

Even if I even liked Street. Wich I don't, of course. He's my team mate and therefore more like my brother. Besides, he gets into trouble more often than I change my outfit and he flirts with every woman in a radius of twenty foot. Why would I wanna be with him anyway?

I realize that I'm still asking myself that question when I get into my car. I'm definetly putting to much thought into this.
