Happily ever after

Chris, you are everything.

That's what I think when our lips touch, and then I don't think anything anymore.

A hot wave of love and what-do-I-know hits me, when our kiss deepens and she moves her hand to my hair, tousling it and ruining it completely, but hey, I so don't care. Nothing does and nothing else exists for me but lips and tongues and the slight taste of lipgloss and the smell of her hair that makes me feel home and ...

The door bangs open and makes us stumble away from each other. I miss her warmth at once.

Wide-eyed I stare at Luca and Tan, who are standing in the door and looking shocked.

Then, Luca flings up his arms and shouts: "Wohooo, finally, guys, and I thought you two would never happen ..."

Tan just grins, and then I do, too. Soon my whole face hurts because I just can't stop it.

"Well, we don't wanna get in the middle of whatever you are doing ...", Luca says with a mischievous smirk, about to shut the door.

"No, no, it's okay!", Chris says quickly and looks at me, her eyes sparkling, as she pulls my arm. "Come on, Street, let's go outside. We still got a couple of minutes til shift starts."

"I like where you are going with this", I whisper and make it sound sexy just to upset Luca.

It works. "Goooooo!", he cries and covers his ears with his hands.

"There's one thing left to do, though, to talk real once", Chris says suddenly in a plainer tone, grinning at Luca. I know exactly what she means and pull the request form out of my pocket. It's crumpled, but who cares? Hicks will accept it.

"Here you go, Chris", Tan says, throwing over a pen. She catches it easily, of course, and gives me a bright smile before scribbling her name beyond the others.

"Now let's hand it in to Hicks", she says and uses the piece of paper to wave goodbye to the others.

Hicks' office is right next to the locker room, and we're lucky, he's there behind his desk.

"We got it, all the signatures", I say and exchange a smile with Chris.

"Well, you've been quick!", Hicks says, not at all sounding surprised. He barely looks at the request before filing it into a brand-new looking folder.

"Request accepted", he says, smiling too. "Congratulations, you are now officially allowed to be together. Officer Street, you may now kiss the girlfriend."

Our laughs are so easy and full of joy, as I put my arm around Chris and give her a kiss on the forehead. She sighs happily.

Because it's the most awkward thing to kiss in front of your commander, Chris and I hurry out pretty quickly. But then, we got all the time in the world - or at least twenty minutes to the start of our shift. And after that, the rest of ours lives.

We would actually have a 'Happily ever after', something I thought would never happen to me.

We're almost out the door when Chris casually takes my hand, just like this. Holding hands, we step out into the sunlight and I wish this moment would last forever.

Outside, Chris gives me a mischievous grin.

"So, you ready for that beer?"

Okay, the end is a lil bit cheesy 😅. Anyway, I thought about writing more and maybe you have opinions/ideas about that? Would you want to read about Stris struggling with proposals and weddings and pregnancy and babies? 😊 Either way, thanks for reading so far! :)
