Epilogue
Iris' twenty first birthday
As I sit on the edge of the building I feel as though I'm on top of the world, I don't look down. There is nothing for me down there. "You ok?" Tommy's voice interupts my thoughts, I look to him.
I notice the anxious glances he gives me and the drop below me. I get up from the edge of the building wanting to ease his anxiety. He places a hand on my lower back. "Come on its cake time." Tommy leads me down the stairs and into the apartment we rented for a couple months.
We didn't plan on being here too long, but Tommy's mates from America decided they'd come pay us a visit. Nyc had always been a dream of mine. Now I'm here and I'd much rather be at home curled up on my couch with Tommy.
"I heard Quackity bought a bald cap for you." Tommy whispers in my ear. We both fall into a laughing fit. I appreciated how Tommy and his friends could make light in such a horrible situation.
We make it to the apartment and Tommy opens the door mumbling a "ladies first," as he steps out of my way. I walk in the apartment to find all my new friends talking and drinking harmoniously.
Everything is perfect. "I love you, Iris. Happy birthday." Tommy says stepping in the apartment after me. He ruffles my hair and places a kiss on my forehead. Oh how I love you.
I wrote this when I was younger so please excuse how much of a shit show it is.
