Paris paced back-n-forth in front of Justine's bed as she waited for Kelsey to answer the phone. She was on the second phone call and third ring when Kelsey finally answered.
"Hello?" She said into the phone
"Kels, did you tell Shamar about the baby ?" Paris asked, getting straight to the point ..
"No, why ?" She asked
"He just asked me was I pregnant all of a sudden." Paris replied ..
"I didn't tell him, but if he asked then he knows. What did you tell him?" Kelsey asked
"Nothing, I froze .. he's on his way here now .." She said ..
"It wasn't me, who all have you told ?" Her sister in law asked ..
"Just you and Justine, she said it wasn't her either .." Paris replied ..
"You know how they do .. they have their ways of knowing shit .. you're keeping the baby ?" She asked
"Yeah .." Her voice low, she was hoping she was making the right decision ..
"Well, congratulations .." Kelsey said ..
Paris smiled, "I'll talk to you later .. I love you.."
"Okay, I love you too."
Disconnecting the call, Paris focused back on Justine.
"It wasn't Kelsey ?" Her mother in law asked
Shaking her head, Paris sighed "It doesn't matter anyway, it was going to come to the light eventually.." She said, sounding defeated.
She knew people were going to notice eventually and start asking questions. Xavier or Shane.
"You're right about that .. Shamar is here .." Justine nodded towards the flatscreen, which showed Shamar pulling into the driveway ..
Rolling her eyes, Paris headed out of the room just as her mom was calling. If it wasn't one thing it was another.
"Yes, mama .." She said, heading downstairs ..
"Hey baby, how are you ?" Celeste asked
"I'm good and you ?" Paris asked
"Fine, how's Shane ?" She asked
"He's fine .." Paris said, keeping it short so that she could get to the point.
"Well, I would've called Shane but obviously I can't .. I was calling about the monthly deposit .." She said
Stopping in her tracks on the stairs, Paris pulled the phone away from her ear then placed it back. After everything that was going on, she just knew her mom wasn't calling her grilling her about money.
"What about it ?" Paris asked
"It was short, 5k .." She said
"How much did you receive ?" Paris asked, not sure if Shane had told her about the decrease or not ..
She wanted to be sure the correct amount was deposited ..
"I received 5k .." Celeste replied
"Sounds about right to me .." Paris said
"How ? It's usually 10k." She said
"I asked Shane to decrease it.."
There was a pause. Then her mom began stuttering, "W.. w..why ?" She asked
"You're engaged, Natalia is no longer living with you, the house is paid for, the car is paid for, he's still paying the bills there. You don't need 5k." Paris replied
