Paris wasn't the first woman Shane kissed on
New Year 2022', but she was perfectly fine with that. The smile on her mother-in-law's face was worth it, as both of her sons kissed each cheek as soon as the clock struck 12!

This would be Mrs. Carters last New Year and they all wanted it to be perfect. And if her sons had anything to say about it, they would've gotten her the stars as well had she asked for them.

Fireworks went off as everyone raised their champagne glasses in unison. Screaming
'HAPPY NEW YEAR !!' .. Sipping her apple juice, Paris frowned as Kelsey laughed at her ..

"This is torture !!" Paris said over the music, everywhere she looked people were being served champagne or the liquor of their preference..

The fireworks went on for about 10 minutes before the lights in the room dimmed, all lights were now on the stage ..

"We won't be here much longer.." Kelsey said, nodding towards Shamar whom was now going up on to the stage, followed by Shane ..

Paris watched as the brothers took their place in front of the microphone. The room grew quiet. Taking one last look back at Shane, Shamar began his speech.

"I wanna thank all of you for coming out tonight, my brother and I appreciate every single one of you.
I wish it was under better circumstances but it was for a good cause and for one of the most important women in my life."

Pausing, he took a look around the crowded room.

"You all may know, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer almost two years ago.
I watched the woman that raised us from boys to men, endure one of the toughest battles she had ever fought. She was fighting for her life. As to be expected, that wasn't an easy task for me, my brother, my dad nor my family. But my mama is one of the strongest women I've ever met." Smiling to himself, Shamar looked down at his intertwined hands. For a moment forgetting he was in front of a huge crowd, his thoughts were on his mom.

Every hug, every kiss, every birthday party, every childhood memory he had flashed right before his eyes. Everything about him was wrapped up into her.

"She beat cancer." He said, finally turning his attention back to the crowd who was giving their undivided attention.

Everyone began clapping.

Joining in with everyone else Paris and Kelsey both looked to Justine who now had tears rolling down her face. But she wasn't sad, those were tears of happiness.

"Then it came back." Shamar said, his voice dry.

Disheartened, he looked back to check on his brother. In true Shane fashion, he didn't show a lick of emotion as he stood there.

"And although it's back, ma, I need you to know you still beat it. You were given more time with us, more time with your grandchildren and I'm grateful for every second of that. And I need to give you your flowers now. Not later, not in private, not at your funeral. But right now. I know me and Shane not perfect men, and for that we apologize." He laughed, taking another look back at his brother ..

"But you've always made us better men. Wrong or right you were always on our side .. no one ever came before your kids."

Pausing, he found his wife in the crowd.
"That was until we got married, now it's Kelsey and Paris always right." He said sarcastically

Gaining laughs throughout the room.

"Thank you." Looking into his moms eyes from
across the room, it made him want to flip over every table in his path. "Thank you for everything." He said, fighting the urge to show everyone how he was really feeling. "If I didn't tell you enough, thank you."
