Jamila held the phone close to her ear. "Thank you Maria. I promise i'll pick her up from yours soon. Okay bye." She said as she ended the call.
She took a deep breath as she followed Steven into the building.
"Hiya." Steven said to the man as Jamila gave him a little wave.
"Hey." The man said back. "You all right?" Steven asked making small conversation as Jamila smiled and waited patiently. "Yeah." The man replied calmly.
Steven took a deep breath before speaking again. "Yeah. Um, look, man, this is, like,
the fifth branch I've been to. I'm looking for my storage locker. It's under Steven Grant. If it's not under Steven Grant, it might be under Marc. I don't have a surname, just Marc." Steven told the man as Jamila looked down the hallway.
It was dark and only lit up by a few lights. "I know it sounds insane..." Steven rambled on.
The man had recognised "Marc" and was showing them the way to his locker. Number 43.
As they entered the room the man left them alone as Steven and Jamila looked around.
She noticed a cot in the corner of the room. If Marc lived in Stevens body why would he need a cot here?
Steven came across a bag. "Oh my god." He said as he opened it to reveal guns and a passport. Jamilas eyes widened. Who ever this Marc was, He was a dangerous man. She was lucky they hadn't come into too much of an altercation.
There was some money in the bag too. Different kinds of currency. Steven opened up the passport "Marc Spector." Steven read out loudly. "No way." Jamila said in disbelief. "Its real. Its totally real." Steven added.
Jamila looked at the bag and noticed something golden. She picked it up to reveal a golden scarab. "Whoa." Both Jamila and Steven said. "I'd say you are a compass, but you're not pointing north." Steven said as he held the scarab taking a closer look at it.
"Steven this stuff is dangerous." Jamila told him worriedly. "This is what i saw in my dream it's what that man wanted. Except it wasn't a dream. Was it?" He asked rhetorically even though he looked up at her.
Jamila took a deep breath and thought about how much danger they were in.
"Steven, I need you to listen to me very carefully." Marcs voice rang through his head. Steven looked up at the mirror. At his own reflection and noticed Marc walking closer to the mirror if that was even possible.
"Marc? There he is. Jamila look here he comes." Steven told her pointing to the mirror but Jamila only saw Stevens reflection. "Hello, man in the mirror. I was wondering if you'd pop up again." Steven said giving a little wave which the mirror did too.
Jamila furrowed her eyebrow. "I know you're scared." Marc said as he looked at his wife. Her beautiful sunkissed skin he dark locks tied into a low bun. Her T-shirt and jeans that showed off her curves. His wife. His beautiful shining star.
"A bit, yeah." Stevens voice brought him back to the conversation. "I know you're confused. You both weren't supposed to see any of this." Marc said as he looked at Steven.
"No? Well, bit late for that, innit?" Steven said. He noticed that Marc kept glancing at Jamila. "Steven what's he saying?" She asked him. "That we weren't supposed to see this." Steven repeated what Marc said.
"So, what? Are you guys, like, meant to be some sort of mad secret agent or something?" Jamila asked them both. She knew Marc could hear her.
"It's a little more complicated than that." Marc replied. "Steven shook his head at her before replying. "More complicated? What? Am I possessed?" He stammered. "Are you, like, a demon?" He asked before Jamila could say anything.
"You're in danger, and I can save us, just like I did last night. But I can't have you interfering in what I have left to do. So, this is what's gonna happen. You're gonna send Jamila home and then you're gonna go lay down on that cot back there. You're gonna take a nice nap." Marc demanded.
Jamila had no clue what was going on so she sat on the cot in worry. She had met Marc last night and he was not a pleasant man to talk to. What would she do if he put Steven in danger?
Or Luna in danger? Jamila could protect them, but she had a feeling Marc would take Steven away. He didnt like her so why would he want her in the picture?
"Khonshu? The Egyptian god of the moon? Oh, my God, that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. I eat one piece of steak, and then, bam, I go bonkers. Oh, God. I'm having a panic attack." She heard Steven say.
She stood up immediately as Steven sat on the cot and kneeled in front of him. "Calm yourself Steven. We can figure this out. Everything's going to be okay." She said as she placed a hand on his forehead using her powers to make him relax. Even Marc relaxed feeling her power in his head.
"I made a deal with Khonshu." Marc continued. "I need to go to the hospital." Steven told Jamila. She nodded at him. But marc continued not letting Steven leave.
"That deal is contingent on you not interfering, Steven. Now, give me the body. Let me finish this, and you'll both never hear from me again." He said.
"You want my body? Right, yeah. Marc, how about this for a deal? I'm gonna take this bag full of illegal shit, yeah? And I'm gonna go straight to the authorities. And they're gonna put me away so I don't hurt anyone else." Steven told him. "Steven please. You're just in shock don't do this." Jamila said.
"And hopefully, NHS will fill me with enough pills so that you get out of my head!" Steven said angrily at Marc before looking to Jamila with sympathy.
Steven took Marc's bag and left the room as he held Jamila's hand. Suddenly the lights started to flicker and both Jamila and Steven looked around.
Jamila eyes widened as she saw a huge bird walking behind them. The bird was a skeleton and held a stick. "Khonshu?!" Jamila whispered before steven dragged her away.
The bird had no eyes, buy she knew he was angry. "Give it back you fool!" He yelled as he followed them. Jamila broke apart from Steven as she made a fireball to attack Khonshu.
Khonshu stood still as he watched the young girl. But Steven interrupted her as he grabbed her arm and dragged her out "hes a god mila. You can't fight a god." He said as they ran out.
Just then Steven tripped over something and fell with Jamila landing on top of him. They both groaned.
"Marc? Jamila? For gods sake guys save it for the bedroom." A voice said.
They both looked up to see a young woman with curly hair staring back at them on her motorbike. "Layla?" Steven said.
"What the hell is going on? Is this Steven the latest fake identity for you? I figured you were using a coded message when we spoke on the phone." She said as both Jamila nd Steven stood up.
She then turned to Jamila. "Jamila you should have rang me atleast. Let me know how you were. What you've been doing this whole time?" Layla said
"First of all I dont know who you are so why would I tell you? Second of all I've been raising my daughter." Jamila told her. Layla clapped excitedly "oh I knew it was going to be a girl." She said happily.
Jamila looked even more confused. What the hell was going on? "How did you find us?" Steven asked layla
"How'd you think? I tracked your phone. I thought you wanted me to do that when you turned it on." She told them. "Right." Both Jamila and Steven said at the same time.
"Hop on." Layla said as she waited for them to sit back on her motorbike. But Jamila shook her head. "I have to go pick luna up and I already have a car." She said before walking away not waiting for either of them to reply.
Jamila drove to Maria's house to pick up luna. "Hi Maria hope she was no trouble at all." Jamila said. "No but she has been quiet though I'm not sure why" She told her.
"I think she had a nightmare today it must have shook her up. Come on cookie." Jamila said as she called her daughter to her.
Luna looked tired as she walked to her mum. "Oh you precious thing." Jamila said as she picked her up. "Thank you Maria I'll talk to you later." She said.
After saying there good byes Jamila drove home where she gave luna some medicine before dinner.
