Travis & the reader on the first date, I set this maybe 10 years before the events of the quarry. In my headcanon, Travis is autistic (I'm autistic)

Key: Your POV, Travis' POV

I admired myself in the mirror. Damn, I look good. It was about time for my date to come to arrive. I let out a breath, releasing the butterflies from my stomach. I couldn't help but be nervous. I recently reconnected with my best friend from college, Chris. It felt like we were never apart, we were back to being basically siblings in a matter of seconds. He introduced me to his kids & they are absolutely adorable... & covered in paint. That's also where I met him.

I drove to Y/N's house in my car that I had tirelessly cleaned just before now. That is the last time I let Bobby borrow my car. I looked a little disheveled, I got caught up with family stuff when I was about to leave. I was wearing a nice black suit. I need to fix my tie & my hair before I go up to their door. I took a deep breath to soothe my anxiety. I need to make a better second impression.

(Flashback)

I looked up to see him. A thin, tall man. He wore a white t-shirt & jeans, both covered in many different colors of paint. He held a large piece of paper in both hands. He smiled at it.

"Travis! Come meet my old friend Y/N!" Chris called to the man.

I looked up to see them. Wearing casual clothes yet still being stunning nonetheless. I froze, admiring their amazing form. They looked as intrigued about me as I was about them.

"Travis, your jaw is hanging," Chris teased.

The mysterious person laughed as I shook my head, waking from my stupor. I should introduce myself. I let go of the sign I held & reached a hand out towards Chris' friend. I took two steps forward & my right leg became stuck. I tripped. I fucking tripped.

I watched Travis take a step into a paint bucket before falling face first into a rock that sat below him. Ohmygod. Chris & I ran up to him to make sure he was okay. Chris pulled him up into a sitting position with his back resting against the rock. I checked for any blood, thank fuck there wasn't any. Travis placed his hand on his forehead & groaned.

"Are you okay?" I ask.

"Yeah, I'm fine," he attempted to stand up.

Travis fell back with a thud, hitting his back against the rock. He yelped in pain.

"Okay, big bro. Relax & stay here. Y/N will watch you. I'll get the camp med bag & help you out," he then turned to me, "Please watch him?"

"Of course, I'll make sure he's okay," I reassured Chris.

Chris ran off as I turned to Travis. He was truly in pain & I just wanted to fix it all.

"I am fine, I promise. This was such a bad introduction on my part," Travis groaned.

"No, you're not fine," I held him down as he tried to stand again, "& it wasn't an awkward introduction. It was adorable."

"Oh," he seemed taken aback, "Thank you."

"Of course, now please rest so I don't have another heart attack."

"Thank you for caring, Y/N."

"For my sanity, I'm going to ask you a couple of questions to make sure you don't have a concussion," I insisted.

"Okay, go ahead."

"When is your birthday?"

"July 7th, 1965," he replied swiftly.

"Wonderful, what is your favorite food?" Y/N asked cheerily.

"Uhhh, I'd have to say spaghetti & meatballs. My mother would make it every weekend for me & my brothers. It's a wonderful memory."

"That's adorable, last question."

"Go ahead," I replied, a smile forming on my face.

"Do you want to... maybe... go on a date with me?" They asked.

"I- yes!" I replied happily, "maybe after I am not covered in paint head to toe."

(Flashback end)

I giggled as I reminisced on our introduction. There was a knock at my door. I made my way over & opened it. Travis stood before me, dressed very fancily. It is a very good look on him. He held out a couple of flowers.

"I didn't know whether or not to get you flowers, I'm an awkward mess," he laughed.

I finally spaced in from being anxious about seeing Y/N. I was running on autopilot "I'm a normal human" mode. I let my mask down & we sat together at Y/N's kitchen table. I felt comfortable with them. They had already seen me crying about my back while covered in paint, surely my true self can't be worse. They smiled at me & stood up.

"I'm going to get the food. I made it myself. I'm not amazing at cooking but I hope you like it!" They explained happily.

"I'm sure whatever you made will be wonderful," I smiled back at them.

"Your smile is amazing," they admitted.

"Oh, thank you," I blushed.

I brought the two plates of pasta I had made back to the table. Travis' eyes lit up as I set them down.

"You made my favorite!" He stated excitedly.

"Yeah, my concussion questions may have had an alternative motive behind them," I replied.

I watched intently as he took a bite, he melted.

"This is amazing," he smiled.

"Ahhhhhh I'm glad!"

We ate our food & enjoyed each other's company all night long. He ended up staying the night. It was a wonderful, wonderful night. (Interpret that how you will, you're the reader not me)

I loved this, I may continue it later.
