Meeting Steve Harrington (X Reader)

"Evening" I say walking into work with a smile on my face. "Hey, you okay?" Steve turns to ask while finishing cleaning up some tables. 

"Yea, the walk here is pretty nice I love it" I say while throwing my back at the back and fixing my hair to place my hat on. 

"You walk here? alone? through the woods?" he turns and looks at me confused "Uh yea?" I frown a little "what's wrong with that?" I place my hat on and make my way around to the front.

"Do you think you cant die or something?" he throws his towel onto the counter "that's a bit dark don't you think?" I lean back on the wall, crossing my arms and staring at him, lost in his eyes more like.

"Don't walk through those woods again, ill pick you up and take you home" I frown at him, still confused "Why? its so nice, im fine, thanks though"I smile at him. "No, im driving end of conversation" and it was indeed end of conversation as Steve goes to the back to get some toppings. 

I turn around, jumping when I see my sister "Hey Max, and friends" I smile at them all as Mick rings the bell "Okay then" I turn and call "Hey, dingus, your children are here" I turn back and smile at them. "Again? Seriously?" Steve huffs as he opens up the window between the back and our front counter. 

He brings them through and out the back "I swear, if anybody hears about this-", "We're dead" they all shout back causing me to giggle a little.

"You really are the best baby sitter" I joke around, when the power suddenly cuts, not only in our store, but the entire mall. "Thats weird" Steve walks over to the light switch, flipping it up and down continuously "That isn't going to work dingus" I shake my head at him as we stand in the dark. "Oh really?" he starts flicking it even faster and of course, the power comes back on.

"Let there be light" he throws his hands up forcing me to chuckle to myself. "Steve, chicks" I mumble as he comes running to the front to serve them. I go back and listen to him attempt to flirt, if you can even call it that...

"Alrighty, one scoop of chocolate, that's a buck twenty five, anything else?" He asks leaning across the counter with a grin on his face. "Oooh, Purdue, Fancy" he chuckles while sorting through the till. "Yeah im excited" the girl replies as her friend stands beside her eating her ice cream.

"Yea you know, I considered it, Purdue, but then I was like you know what? I really think I need some real life experience, you know?" The girls stare at him, looking scared almost as he continues to talk "Before I hit college, see what it feels like, kinda like, uh, I don't know, see what its like to earn a working mans wage, you know?" I stand at the back laughing to myself, throwing my hand over my face having to listen to this failure. 

"Anyway, this was like so fun, we should kind of like you know, maybe hang out this weekend or-" the girl quickly cuts him off "Yeah im busy" she takes her money trying her best to get away. "I- this- this is my first day here" he shouts as they walk away giggling to eachother. 

"And another one bites the dust" I open up the window, holding up our whiteboard with the columns 'you rule' and 'you suck'. "You are oh- for- six Popeye" I laugh while drawing a line on the you suck side."Yea okay I can count", "that means you suck" I smile and place the board away. 

"Its this stupid hat im telling you, it is totally blowing my best feature" I roll my eyes at him "Yea company policy is a real drag" I say in a sarcastic tone "Hey, twelve o'clock!" I quickly point as more girls enter the store. He turns to quickly check out the view before turning back "Oh shit, oh shit, okay, uh im gunna go in, okay" he hypes himself up to me "And you know what, screw company policy" he takes hold of his hat and throws it behind the counter forcing me to burst out laughing. 

"Oh my god you're a whole new man" I pat his back as he turns around to the till. "Ahoy Ladies! Didn't see you there" the girls gasp as he frightens them with his presence "Would you guys like to set sail on this ocean of flavour with me, Ill be your captain... Im Steve Harrington" I throw both my hands over my face, shaking my head in shame at this douche. 

I move across, drawing another line on 'you suck' and throw the pen aside, continuing to watch him sink his ship rapidly.

"Im a faliure" he comes around back, slumping down on a chair "I mean, not to make you feel any worse but yea, you are" I smile and sit opposite. "Hey, why aren't you trying to talk to any guys?" he asks while drinking some water. "Im just not interested in anyone or whatever" I shrug.

Im so into Steve, all I want is Steve but I feel crazy for feeling this way, I cant, nope, I need to convince him to speak to other girls so these feeling set sail away and do not come back, like ever. 

"Seriously?" he raises an eyebrow at me "Yea" I smile at him "Have you been in a relationship before? or are you some Virgin Mary" he laughs but stops when he sees my face "oh shit, wait seriously?" I shake my head at him "No dingus" I throw my empty water bottle at him. "Oh thank god", "What?", "Huh?" he plays dumb causing me to smirk.

"Yes ive had a boyfriend before, in my old town and school" he leans forward "well come on tell me stories, name, who is he what's going on now do you still talk?" I sit back in my chair, eyes widen and smiling "Jesus Steve you want my life story?", "I mean" I throw my hand over his mouth before he can open it again. "Just shut up" I laugh.

"His name was Eddie, he was great", "that's it? his name was Eddie he was great" he raises his voice "I need more than that my friend" he sits back, folding his arms waiting for more. "Steve-", "Nancy Wheeler, totally into her, slept with her, she cheated on me with Jonathan, well, I think, apparently she didn't but that's still not clear, took me a while to get over but now we are great friends" he shrugs and smile "your turn" I roll my eyes and get comfortable in my chair.

"Fine" I take a deep breath as he sits back waiting to hear my little story. 

"Me and Eddie knew eachother since we were little, we were great friends and he knew everything that happened in my life, he was there as a friend when I lost my dad, all that stuff. We got closer and closer, started to sleep together so thought fuck it lets just be together, you know?" Steve nods, he's managing to keep up. "We were in a great relationship for a long time, I really loved him, he treated me great and everything, then one day I went to his house to surprise him and he was in bed with a girl from our Spanish class" Steve sits forward and gasps "That fucking broke me, he ran after me saying it wasn't how it seems, all that stuff, I ignored him and we didn't speak from that day onwards, he broke me, it sent me into a month long depression and I haven't even been near a guy since so" I shrug and look up at Steve.

"Thats why..." he says, referring back to our session in the classroom, I sit in silence and nod. Eddie really fucking hurt me, my heart still aches for him. "When did all this happen" he asks "6 months ago" Steve spits out his water in shock "sorry, 6 months ago? Jesus are you okay" he quickly asks. "Yea, fine" I shrug, lying. 

"Great guy tho, people love him" I laugh and stand up from the table. "Does anyone else know this?" Steve stands up "No, Billy does, he beat the shit out of Eddie but till this day, he uses it against me, hey he even said it to you" I smile, more of a broken smile and walk back around to start closing the store up. 

"So he is the reason you don't go near dudes" Steve sits on a table and watches me close the doors up. "Yep" I laugh while grabbing empty glasses. "But the thing is, if I was to go back to my old town and see Eddie, id forgive him there and then and want him back, because im a massive push over however, I know that is never going to happen so I don't think about it or him" Steve stays quiet "Moving forward, right?" he stands up and takes the glasses from my hands.

"Yea, moving forward" I smile as I pass them over. "Alright get your stuff im driving you home its dark out" butterflies form in my stomach for a brief moment, fuck sake Steve Harrington.
