Meeting Steve Harrington (X Reader)

I sit at home in bed thinking about yesterday, more specifically, thinking about Eddie. I cant get over the fact he is here and that im with Steve. My brain is scrambled and my heart is confused, Eddie will forever have a piece of my heart, and I think Steve needs to know that.

Don't get me wrong, im madly in love with Steve, we've gone through a bunch of shit together and he's stood by me through everything, we dealt with Russian fucking spys together, like what?? I get butterflies with Steve every single time im in his presence, he's the person I want my future with and nothing can change that.

"Max" I call out and sit myself up "yea what's up" she walks into my room "Sit" I pat my bed and she places herself opposite me "you still thinking about yesterday..." she raises her eyebrows at me and I nod to confirm. 

"I couldn't believe he was there" he laughs "how haven't you seen him at school" I ask "I don't hang with dustin and Mike much, theyre always playing D&D and I never went along so never saw him" she shrugs her shoulders.

"Do you think I should really, properly talk to Steve about Eddie?" I let out a sigh "If this was me, yea, I would, I grew up around you and Eddie and it was crazy, you would've killed people for eachother. You were a different person then, I never expected you to be with Steve Harrington, put it that way" She crosses her arms. "Fuck sake" I lay back.

"Listen, Steve is an understanding guy he will get it, and you guys were friends before dating, just talk to him don't let Eddie get there first" she gets off my bed and grabs one of my magazines. "Hey!" I sit up throwing a pillow across at her before getting up and dressed.

"Hey" I smile as I walk into the video store. "Hi y/n, Steves just over by the back" Robin points me in his direct. I smile and begin walking over to him.

I take some deep breaths to calm my nerves and relax, but that's not seeming to help right now.

"Oh hey babe" Steve turns around with a huge smile on his face "Hey" I smile back and we quickly hug. "Uhm, can we talk" I whisper. He frowns at me, confused he takes hold of my hand and guides me to their backroom so we can sit down together.

"Whats up?" he sits down opposite with his arms on the table. "I just think we need to talk" I place my bag down "About Eddie" he lets out a sigh and sits back in his seat, removing his arms from the table, why is it he has to be so hot right now? making my job even harder. 

"Yea, uhm, listen, Steve I will always love you", "Woah woah, are you ending things because he's back" he quickly jolts forward "what? no? what?" I shake my head at him "god don't start a sentence with that" he runs his hands through his hair and gets comfortable again "Okay sorry, umm I love you a lot, always will, forever, yea okay" I take a deep breath again.

"But listen, Max told me I needed to sit with you and really talk about him now that's he's back and going to be involved in a lot of things that we do" Steve nods in agreement "Alright, what do I need to know, and the fact your sister told you to do this means there's a lot" he folds his arms and sits back in his chair. 

"Yea, Eddie will always, always have a piece of my heart Steve, now that doesn't mean I love him or want him back, but it means ill always care about him" Steve stays silent, looking down at his hands as I talk "He came into my life just as someone I was screwing because we were horny teens, don't sit and act like you weren't because, well look at you, you were screwing chicks whenever you could" I raise an eyebrow at him and he nods in agreement. 

"When we got into a relationship I was in the middle of finding myself, stuff at home was god awful, ask Max she saw a lot of it, I was with Eddie 24/7, the girl you have sitting here, this wasn't the girl Eddie had, the girl Eddie had was so so different that you wouldn't have even recognised her" I look down to the ground, ashamed of how I once was.

"Look at Eddie and imagine the girl version of him, I had the long black hair, dressed like it was fricking halloween every day, we done so many drugs together all the time, Fridays were our high night together, my parents wanted me away from him but I was so in love, he had me in a hold. I would've killed for Eddie, and he would have done the same for me, we had eachothers back like no one else could"

"I didn't tell him about-" I let out a soft sigh "about my dad... and what he was doing because I knew Eddie would've killed him, then my dad died and Billy started going out of control and I told Eddie that, I told him about Billy being insane and how he was to Max and me and he found him, he found him and put him in hospital"

"Yea I stopped sleeping with him because I was so scared he was going to find out, but The day I saw him in bed with that girl, that was the day I changed. I cut all my hair, dyed it back to y/h/c, started to dress cute and comfortably, got rid of everyone around me and ignored Eddie for the rest of my life because I knew I could not heal and move on if he was near me"

"Steve" I lean forward, taking hold of his hands "I never, in my entire life thought id end up with Steve Harrington, the popular, preppy boy in my new school. I thought id end up with another gothic nerdy guy, but you changed me so much for the good and the person I am now is because of you, and I want to stay this way forever, with you" 

He stays quiet for a moment before finally looking up at him "he's still in love with you though" our eyes meet, causing my heart to split in two "I don't care, because I love you" I smile at him. "You just needed to know everything so you understand, I do not want Eddie, ever again"

"So, I changed you huh" he sits back folding his arms with a smirk across his face "Oh shut up" I roll my eyes at him. "You really love me" his smile grows "I mean, you did save me from some Russian spys, how could I not" I joke as I stand up and walk over to him. 

"Come here" he opens his arms as I sit on his lap and lean into him, wrapping my arms around him. "I love you too y/l/n" I smile into his shoulder "but if he touches you again im gunna have to cut his hands off", "Shut up" I playfully slap him. 

"So, hes Dustins new best friend and he's involve with my girlfriend, what did I do to deserve this" he shouts as a joke "He's not Dustins new best friend, god you and Dustin are far too close for anyone to get between you two" I get off his lap and grab my bag "you need to get back to work" I point at him.

"Oh hey" I smile as I come out the back and see Max and Dustin "Hey, its time to go bring Eddie more supplies" Dustin smiles "perfect timing" Steve mumbles. 

"Did you talk?" I walk over to Max as she whispers "Yea, I told him everything, he seemed pretty chill but I don't know, ill soon find out if he was being genuine or not" the two of us look over as Steve jokes around with Dustin. "I hope he was" Max gives me a hug "Alright lets go!" Robin pushes us all out the door, locking it up and changing the sign to closed.
