Mom said it would be easier if I peed in one of those tiny cups you use to rinse your mouth out after you brush your teeth, so that's what I did.

Mom stayed with me as we waited for the results of the tests. I felt my heart speed up at every second it loaded. I was praying it was negative, I would talk with Johnny and tell him about my pregnancy scare and we'd laugh about it. Until the results popped up on the little stick. Positive. Both of them were positive.

"Fuck." I sat them both on the sink, placing my face in my hands. Despite my mom disliking cussing, she didn't say anything about it. I stood up, pouring the rest of the pee into the toilet and placing the plastic caps over the place on the stick that had the pee, and looked at my mom.

"We'll get through this, together, all of us." I nodded.

"Will you come with me to show Dad?" She nodded, giving me a sympathetic look. We walked into the living room, Dad was playing chess with Randy.

"David, um, Amelia needs to speak to you." Dad turned to me, a huge smile on his face. I knew he'd be disappointed, and I didn't want to do that to him.

"What's up, Amelia?" I gulped and glanced at Randy, who was intrigued, to say the least. I pulled out the pregnancy tests and let him look at them.

"There positive." Dad nodded.

"Who's the um...father?" He asked, not looking as disappointed as I expected.

"Johnny." Dad nodded.

"Does he know?" I shook my head.

"I'm planning on taking him tomorrow." Dad nodded again.

"Well, I know it's not the greatest timing but at least I'll be a Grandpa and you can still do your schoolwork! You're Mom used to love staying at home and watching after you guys." I furrowed my eyebrows.

"Then what happened?" Dad chuckled.

"You guys went to school, of course!" I smiled. I was glad that shit didn't hit the fan, but I doubted this would be the same way it would turn out when I told Johnny.

I knocked on the Curtis house door, again, I heard talking so I knew that people were inside. Then I heard heavy footsteps come to the door. It was Darry. He glanced back inside before coming out on the porch and shutting the door behind him.

"What are you doing here, Amelia? You've done enough damage." I cleared my throat before I handed him the tote of Johnny's things.

"That's everything of Johnny's and everything that Johnny has ever given me, now can I come inside, please? I need to talk to him." Darry shook his head.

"Johnny's in a real bad spot right now, he doesn't need you making it worse." I took a deep breath. I understood that Johnny was the gang's pet and they did whatever to protect him, but if they were in my shoes they would react differently.

"Okay, just tell him those are his things and if he needs to talk to me then he knows where he can call me." Darry nodded, and I was suddenly glad that I had a plan b.

"Who was that?" Dally asked, taking a swig of a beer that Two-Bit brought him before they started watching Mickey.

"Amelia." Darry sighed, carrying in a large white tote. My head snapped up at her name.

"You didn't let her in?" Dally asked, practically reading my thoughts.

"I know you all think they should make up but time away from each other is good, okay?"

"What's all that?" I asked, hoping it wasn't what I thought it was.

"It's all of your stuff, she also said if you need to talk to her then you know where to call her." Darry handed me the tote and I quickly opened it.

I hoped there was one thing she didn't give back. The letters. Maybe I'd even notice a sweatshirt or two missing from the tote and hope she kept them as well but I found something much more interesting. In a little ziplock baggie were what I recognized to be two pregnancy tests and they both looked to be positive.

"Shit."

"What's wrong, Johnny?" Dally asked quickly.

"Darry, did Amelia say she needed to talk to me?" I asked as he took a swig of Coke.

"Yeah, why?" I let out a loud sigh.

"Because she's pregnant."
