When the morning light hit Lainey, she groaned groggily, partially because she was up most the night and mainly because she was hungover.

"Here, love." Jess handed her a cup of coffee and some aspirin.

"What time is it?" Lainey sat straight up and rubbed her eyes tiredly taking the cup and pills from her hand.

"Early. Everything is already in the car, ready to go." Jess smiled.

Lainey sat a moment before smiling too. This was their camping trip. Nobody else, just the two of them. And after the trip, Lainey felt brave enough to ask Jess to be her girlfriend. She sat up straight and adjusted herself, throwing back the aspirin and gulping the sweet taste of liquid gold down her throat. She hummed softly, sorely attempting to get up from the bed.

Jess chuckled a bit before Lainey looked at her, "so all that stuff we did was real?" Lainey's smirk crept across her face as she sighed after.

Jess chuckled, "get ready, I'll meet you in the car."

Jess left Lainey in the room to get ready when she heard a phone chime that was not her's. When she reached for it on the dresser by the door, she noticed it was Jess's phone. She would forget her head if it weren't attached.

Lainey didn't mean to be nosy, but she seen an incoming message from her dad. When Lainey saw it, she replaced it as she found it on the dresser. She hesitantly put her clothes on and picked up the phone again. Scoffing, why was she so nosey, she punched in her code and unlocked the phone, reading the message from her father.

"I know you hate me, but just know I had no intention of ripping you from your life here. I love you, Jessie." He wrote in a text. Lainey seen three missed calls and a few more messages from him before that. "Are you safe at least?" And "please don't ignore my calls."

But the next one was something that blew Lainey out of the water, "I got the job in New York."

Lainey didn't know why Jess thought she had to hide this from her. They told each other everything, or so she thought. Lainey decided to keep quiet, to play dumb and act as if she never saw anything at all, so that she could enjoy what amount of time she had left with Jess.

Lainey grabbed her bucket hat and out the door she went with the two phones and her backpack of things. She got into the car and looked Jess right in her eyes handing her the phone.

"Oh, thank you. Are you ready?" She smiled taking the phone and setting it in the door.

"Ready as I'll ever be." She smiled softly back and looked away from her eyes. Jess started up the car and off to the falls they drove.

They drove further north than Lainey thought Berney Falls was. When the signs counted down the miles until they were at the exit, Jess skipped the exit and continued north.

"Where are we?" Lainey asked looking about at the fogged scenery of green trees, a sight it feels like she couldn't see enough of.

"It's a surprise." She said, keeping her eyes on the road, she reached over and grabbed Lainey's thigh, giving a squeeze. Lainey lovingly blushed at her touch. Instead, Jess took the next soonest exit off, the sign read "Welcome to Mossbrae Falls."

Lainey sat in the passenger seat bouncing as Jess took a backroad in her little car. They were most likely heading to a camp sight she knew about.

They turned off the road into a clearing surrounded by trees and a nice view of the sky and more trees.

"Did you take me here to kill me?" Lainey joked and Jess shook her head with a smile.

"Common'. You have to see this view before we do anything." She said nudging her and opening the door to climb out.
