(Eclipsa's POV)
As I went into my private chambers, I sighed. Things have been hard for me with Globgor gone. While my daughter Meteora is doing a fine job as the head of the New Mewni High Commission, I had hoped that it would be handled by someone with more experience than her. Namely my darling Globgor.
As if her lack of experience wasn't already enough of an issue, there are still those who do not trust her enough in a seat of power after her past actions. Thankfully, I personally oversee the actions of the New Mewni High Commission and make sure my daughter does not make any rash or potentially harmful choices.
Then again, considering the fact that I just brought one from the human realm into our world with the fragments of unrest that still exist due to the actions of Mina Loveberry, I feel as if I have even LESS room to play judge. Still, Steven seems different than any other human….
Ah what am I allowing my mind to get into? I cannot let myself become engrossed in my own emotions simply because I share a feeling of loss with him. I have a duty as Queen of Mewni and I must adhere to it. Thankfully, Star(as rude and oblivious as she tends to be) is also on the New Mewni High Commission and balances things out in terms of decision making.
"Mother, are you alright? I need to speak with you. I apologize for the sudden intrusion." The voice of my daughter spoke as she came into my chambers. Time had treated her well. Rather than look older than she is, she had the look of a beautiful woman rather than the old crone she resembled before.
"I am fine, Meteora. What did you need to speak to me about?" I asked, even though part of me knew the answer. And sure enough, I was right as Meteora crossed her arms.
"You know what it is, Mother. That human you brought in? Steven, I believe his name is? I just saw him with Star. What are you thinking? You know we can't afford to have such outsiders in our realm right now. Who knows how long it will take to truly heal from Mina 's actions? Please, Mother. Send that human back to where he came from." She said as I gave her a look.
"Excuse me? If I'm not mistaken, I am both the Queen and your mother. Do not sit here and question my actions like so many did before. I expect such harsh criticism from Rhombulus but not from my own daughter. And let me also say this: You judge Steven for being from the human realm? Do you not remember how your father was judged for what he was? How you lost your spot on Queen list simply due to the prejudice of the very Commission you are currently helping reform? What room do you have at all to play judge, dear daughter?" I asked in annoyance as Meteora sighed in defeat.
"None. I know I have no room to judge anyone. And rest assured, if you think Steven is trustworthy then I will not argue or dispute it any further. But I am simply trying to keep balance, Mother. As you said: I am doing all I can to reform the Commission. I know past actions may very well prevent full redemption from ever being possible but I at least want to make it so history doesn't have a chance to repeat itself. That doesn't only apply to the commission and it ties into my concern about you having a human in our realm. Or did you forget what happened with Star and that insolent pest Marco Diaz?" She asked as I looked at her.
I remembered all too well how upset Star was when Marco broke her heart. It was me she cried to, after all. Still, Steven seemed so much more different than Marco despite my understanding of Meteora's concern.
"I remember what happened. I remember how upset Star was when Marco did what he did. If she didn't have friends other than him in the human realm, I doubt she'd still be going. But rest assured: I can handle myself with this, Meteora. I appreciate your concern nonetheless." I said with a smile as Meteora smiled back before leaving me alone with my thoughts.
Steven isn't like Marco. That's what I needed to keep telling myself. At least for the time being.
See ya next chapter! As you can tell, Starco isn't a thing in this story. Now as far as who Star IS shipped with? I'll leave that a surprise until later but it's something you guys may like and it's a big reason she still visits the human realm! But who could it be?
