(Steven's POV)
Heading back to the village where the shack I was living at was, my mind just drifted as I walked through the Mewni fields. It was something that tended to happen a lot ever since I arrived. Granted, I've always been someone with my head in the clouds, but this was extra even for me.
Still, what happened to me haunts me. Of that there's no doubt. I lost everything and everyone I loved all because of those who couldn't let go of the past. And honestly? The last thing I remember was seeing Bluebird 's shards as well as the shards of the Gems that helped her. And after what they did to my loved ones? I felt no remorse or pity for Bluebird or any of her accomplices.
Still, that left me with a question: Why would Bluebird just come out the blue(No Pun intended) like that? No way she could have organized a Jasper Squad by herself. She had to have help in doing it. Or at least someone else pulling the strings but who? So many questions and not enough answers.
Before I knew it, I was back at the shack and in my bed, my mind still going over and over until it finally calmed down after settling on a single thought: Eclipsa. But wait…why was I thinking of her? Why was she the thought that calmed my mind down?
I sat up in my bed and sighed. What is wrong with me? I'm thinking of a widowed woman who lost her husband. How low can I possibly be? Yeah she was beautiful and curvy but she was grieving! This is like trying to hit on a recently widowed wife at her dead husband 's funeral. I can't do that to her.
Laying back down and allowing myself to rest, I fell asleep as my mind once again drifted…..
(Steven's Dream POV)
Huh? Where am I? I was just in bed. Huh? Looking around, I'm…back home? I'm in the Temple. But where is everyone? The place is deserted. Looking around, I find a note on the refrigerator but can't make heads or tails of it. Weird. In any case, I head to the door and open it….
And gasp in horror at the warzone in front of me: Ruby and Sapphire's wedding rings amid their shards, Amethyst's Gem shattered and her shards mixed in with Pearl's. All right in front of the Temple!
I then rush to Little Homeworld and find more of the same: Lapis and Peridot's shards. I look into the forge and see Bismuth 's Gem in shambles. Suddenly, I feel a hand on my shoulder.
"Steven….why didn't you save us? Where were you? Why didn't you save me?" A voice asked me. It couldn't be….I turned around in horror and saw Connie. But her eyes were hollow and a sword was impaled through her back to her front. I shook the hand off my shoulder and glanced to what was in front of me: Dad's van and him dead out the driver's side, his guitar broken in half along with his body.
Then that laughing……it was them. Bluebird..but I saw she wasn't alone: Holly Blue Agate along with a group of Jaspers. It was the day of the attack all over again!!
"Look at you, Steven Universe! Your friends and family now lie dead around you! All because you were too weak to protect them! And they call YOU the savior of the Universe! Don't make me laugh!" Holly Blue said mockingly as her and Bluebird laughed along with the Jaspers as I fell to my knees and held Connie's dead body in my arms..
"No….no….NOOOOOOO!!!!! I'LL KILL YOU!!!" I roared in anger as everything was engulfed in a flash of Pink light…..
(Back in reality. Steven's POV)
I rose up and let out a yell of pure anger only to look around and see that it was all a nightmare. But also that I wasn't alone. I looked and saw Eclipsa and Star both looking at me with concern and worry in their eyes. I got up and looked in the mirror and sure enough I had gone Pink in my sleep.
"Damn it…..these fucking nightmares…." I said as I felt a pair of arms hug me. It was Eclipsa. And I felt myself calm down back to normal as Star joined the hug.
"Sorry you had to see me like that. What brings you two here?" I asked as Star smiled.
"Well I came to get you. Remember our plans to go to the human realm? But I didn't know where you were staying so Eclipsa brought me here. As for why she came…well I guess just to be my guide? I dunno." She said as I chuckled before Eclipsa spoke.
"Actually. I came to ask you if you'd like to stay at the chambers with me? I know you've been out here in the village since you've been here and…well I'd rather have you closer so I can at least keep tabs on you. It's my duty as the Queen to keep tabs on the denizens of Mewni after all and since you're here, you're among those denizens." She said as Star chuckled.
"Pretty sure he isn't just "among the denizens" if you want him to stay in the chambers with you. At least if the shit eating grin on my Mom's face when we were talking about this was any indication." She said as Eclipsa gave her a look.
"You and your mother can shut your mouths. Whatever you are thinking this is about is simply not true. I simply wish to have Steven close at hand. Also I'm quite certain he's tired of being in the village when there's so much more of Mewni. Again, it's my duty as Queen." She said sternly as I smiled and blushed. Damn it. There it is again. What is up with me when it comes to this woman?
"I'd be glad to stay with you in the chambers, Eclipsa." I said as Eclipsa smiled as Star now has a grin that might have to be surgically removed with how it was plastered on her face. Eclipsa simply ignored her and cleared her throat.
"Ahem. Now I shall take my leave so you two can prepare for your time together. I'll see you later, Steven." Eclipsa said as she left. I couldn't help but catch a glimpse of her curves as she walked away, causing a blush to appear on my face. Something Star unfortunately noticed.
"Oh my…. you're attracted to Eclipsa, aren't you?!? I can tell just by how you look right now, Steven! You have a thing for her–" She began to say until I cut her off.
"You gonna let me get ready so we can go to the human realm or do you want to keep going on about this?" I asked as she laughed and left the room, allowing me to get ready to go.
Still….I'll be staying with Eclipsa in her chambers. She says it's just her duty as the Queen…but is it really JUST that?
