Ghost and Rooster

Everyone goes about their day and when they all arrive at Top Gun Maverick says "we have two weeks left until we perform this mission. Yesterday we did target practice and every single one of you failed it. So we're going keep practicing. The teams today are Ghost and Rooster, Phoenix and Bob." And names the other teams.

Y/n says "are we flying solo or together?" Maverick says "Phoenix and Bob will fly together and you and Rooster will fly separately." 

Everyone nods and heads to the aircraft.
Everyone gets in and y/n says "hangar 1 ready for takeoff" Rooster says "hangar 2 ready for takeoff" Phoenix says "hangar 3 ready for takeoff" Maverick says through the coms "Ghost your last. Rooster second and Phoenix first." Y/n says "copy" alongside everyone else.

They all take off and Phoenix and Bob go first and miss. Rooster goes and misses. Y/n goes and makes it. Rooster sys "good job babe!"

 She says " Thanks Roo" Phoenix says "wait! Babe?" And y/n chuckles and says "I'll tell you when we land" and laughs. They land and Maverick says "good job Ghost. You're the only one that hit the target" y/n says "thank you sir" he says "everyone else I am disappointed with your performances. 

We will practice more but like it's actually happening. That will start tomorrow. Dismissed" and walks out. 

Phoenix runs up saying "soooo! What's going on!? With Rooster!?" She laughs and says "well, we got together yesterday!" And smiles happily. Rooster walks up saying "what are you girls taking about?" Phoenix says "NO WAY!!! IM SO HAPPY FOR YALL!!!" 

Rooster says "so that's what y'all are talking about" and chuckles. Y/n says "yeah I'm glad we made that decision" and looks up and Rooster. He says "I am too baby" and kisses her forehead.

Maverick walks up saying "y/n, we need to talk" she says "that doesn't sound good" and looks nervous. Rooster says "I'm sure he just wants to talk about todays training" Phoenix says "yeah, probably nothing serious" and hugs y/n. Rooster says "I love you" y/n walks off saying "I love you too Roo" She heads to Mavericks office. 

She knocks and he says "come in" she says "you wanted to talk to me dad?" He says "let's go to the Hard Deck" she says "alright" and they head off to the Hard Deck. She says "oh I don't have my bike" he says "you can just ride with me" she says "alright" and they take off. They arrive at the Hard Deck and walk in.

Penny says "hey! I haven't seen you in awhile Y/n/n!" She says "I know! I've missed you and Amelia!"

She says "you two need to come over to our house one night!" Y/n says "most definitely!"
Maverick says "well, we need to have a talk so I'll see you later Penny" and smiles at her.
Maverick says "you did really well today! I'm proud of you" and smiles.

Y/n says "thanks dad, I think the others are still warming up to your flying" and laughs. He says "yeah hangman is almost as good as you. And that's saying something" 

y/n says "He's also a jerk. I don't think you know this but when I was at the academy, we dated for like 2 years and right before graduation he cheated on me. And when I came here he acted like nothing happened." He says "no, I didn't know that. That's why you're not really supposed to date your teammates." Y/n looks down. 

Maverick says "So, about what happened earlier with Rooster, what's going on there. He called you babe" y/n says "dad, even though y'all are going through y'all's stuff doesn't mean we can talk and be friends"

He says "he asked me multiple times when y'all were younger if he could date you and I told him no" y/n says "wait WHAT!?" 

He says "I wanted someone better for you than him" she says "you don't get to make that choice for me dad, I love Rooster and he loves me. He's been there for me even when you weren't. When you pulled my papers, all my heartbreaks, SUPPORTED ME WHEN I CHOSE TO GO TO THE NAVY! I WANTED TO SERVE MY COUNTRY AND YOU TOOK THAT FROM ME!!" Meanwhile Rooster walks in. Maverick says "I CHOSE WHAT WAS BEST FOR YOU!"

 She shouts "AND PULLING MY PAPERS WAS GOING TO HELP?!" He shouts "I PULLED YOUR PAPERS BECAUSE I... I CANT LOSE YOU LIKE I LOST GOOSE!"

 Rooster looks down angrily and sadly. She says "I know your trying to protect me but pulling my papers wasn't going to stop me"

He says "WHY ARE YOU BACK ON THIS!? BRADSHAW IS GETTING IN YOUR HEAD!" She says angrily "don't you dare bring Bradley into this. He has nothing to do with this" 

he says "YES HE DOES! YOU ARE DATING HIM! NOW I HAVE TO DECIDE WHO TO SEND ON THIS MISSION BECAUSE I AN NOT PUTTING YALL TOGETHER" she shouts "WHY? BECAUSE WERE THE BEST TEAM WHEN WERE PUT TOGETHER!? YOU NEED TO STOP THINKING ABOUT THE PAST AND GET OVER IT!!!" 

He says "GOOSE WAS MY BEST FRIEND! I CANT JUST GET OVER IT! THATS WHY I SHOULDNT SEND HIM ON THIS MISSION BECAUSE HES... NOT... READY"

 she shouts "ROOSTER IS THE BEST PILOT I KNOW! BACK AT THE ACADEMY WE WERE UNSTOPPABLE! AND IF YOU DON'T SEND HIM ON THIS MISSION HE WILL HATE YOU FOREVER, SO THINK ABOUT YOUR JOB AND PUT THE PAST BEHIND YOU!" 

He says "DON'T YOU DARE TRY AND TELL ME HOW TO RUN THIS MISSION!" she says "I'm... I'm not doing this... goodbye" 

she gets up and walks out. On her way out she spots Rooster and runs off. Rooster runs after her saying "baby, listen to me, stop, breathe and don't let it get to you. I knew your dad wasn't going to be supportive about us" she cries and says "I don't know why he won't just accept us being together and be happy for me" 

He says "I know baby, I know" and hugs her rubbing soft circles on her back and says "let's go to my moms house and y'all can talk, it might make you feel better" and smiles.
He walks around and opens the door to his Bronco and I get in.
We talk about everything that happened with my dad. 

We arrive at Carols house and and knock and Rooster says "mom! We're here!" And nothing happens and y/n says "Roo, use your key"

 he says "thanks baby, I didn't think about that" and gets his key and walks in shouting for his mom. Y/n says "babe, I think something's wrong" he says "no, no, no come on mom" and goes into her room and he runs up to her saying "MOM!!! MOM WAKE UP" 

y/n says "no, mom please don't do this to us" and starts to cry, she checks for a pulse and there's not one. She immediately grabs Rooster and cries, he is crying too.

He says "I didn't get to say goodbye" and sobs. Y/n says "neither did I Roo" and cries too. She pulls herself together and says "babe, let's go to my house. You can stay for a few days if you want" he says "okay" still crying. She takes him to his car and walks back over to the diver seat. She starts the car and drives to her house. 

He says "I can't believe she's gone." She says "I know, me neither. At least she got to see us together" he says "yeah" 

Then it all goes silent. She reaches over and grabs his hand. They arrive at her house and walks him inside. He doesn't get a shower and just gets on the couch and y/n gets her shower and stays on the couch with him comforting him. We don't go to bed until 2:30 am.
