The early weeks of September slowly faded into the start of October. The weather had chilled down, the leaves were beginning to turn certain colors of orange, red and such, falling off its spots on the trees and onto the grass, making the branches bare.
The girls were out in the grounds on the evening of a slightly chilly Saturday, wearing sweaters and scarves, all gathering as many leaves as they could and making one big pile. Once done they all circled around it.
"Ready?" Lily asked, earning nods from the others.
Fiona began counting down, followed by Maya, Marlene and Alice.
"Three."
"Two."
"One."
"Go!"
They all jumped in seeing that the pile was big. Bright smiles were on their faces, throwing leaves at one another, the leaves making satisfying sounds by breaking beneath their feet, their joyous laughter echoing throughout the grounds, another memory that would be added to their countless other ones. Soon after all that chaos, they all fell upon the ground staring up at the cloudy sky, panting for breath.
"You know," Fiona piped up out of the blue, "Have you ever thought about the future? Forgetting about the possibility of a war, and settling with our families or going out to explore the world?"
"Yeah," Lily breathed out, "I want to work as a Healer, and as for settling down I'm not sure, but I will definitely not settle down with that arrogant toe-rag." Lily added at the end, as the other girls only grinned that Lily had read their minds about them having the idea to tease her.
"I want to be a Professional Quidditch player." Marlene said, "But if that doesn't work out, I'll settle down with a booth that gives out advice!"
"You and advice?" Maya said, raising an eyebrow. "Please."
"Hey, I'm awesome with advice!"
"Unfortunately, you are terrible with advice, Mar." Alice said earning a hmph from the latter. "All I have planned at the moment is to complete my training to be an Auror, but after that I'm not sure. How about you, Maya?"
Maya grinned widely, "I'm just going to sit back and relax at home and watch that money roll in."
"Maya, that's not how money works." Lily said. "You have to work hard and earn it."
"Ah but you see Professor Evans, the money will come rolling in because my dearest brother, Sameer, will be working and bringing it in." She replied mischievously. "But jokes aside, like I've said before I'm going to train to be an Auror but if that fails I might open up some joke shop or something, or maybe work in the Muggle world as some sort of artist like acting or comedy."
"Why don't you try something music related? You love music and dance, why not combine those?" Alice said.
"Perhaps. We'll see where the future takes me I guess. How about you, Fi?"
