Woody was shaken awake by Buzz. He had a million questions upon waking (namely wondering why they were in a sack), but quickly remembered everything. We were stolen, he realized with horror.

"Are you alright, Woody?" Buzz asked. He was glowing in the dark of the sack, meaning that they could at least see each other.

"I think so. Where are we?"

"I don't know. We were just...dropped here several hours ago."

Woody remembered that. The drop had knocked them both out. Whoever their abductor was, they weren't gentle.

Buzz kept talking. "I've only been awake for a minute. I think I've heard voices, but I can't be sure of anything until we leave the sack."

Woody agreed. "Let's go."

The sack had been tied shut, and neither of them could figure out how to open it. But by feeling along the cloth, Woody found a small hole. Working together, the two toys managed to rip it until it was wide enough for them to get out.

As soon as their eyes adjusted to the brightly lit room, they stared in shock. They weren't in Andy's room; they weren't even in a bedroom. They were in a cell, with a sink in one corner and a mistreated mattress in the other. The walls were made of white brick, and the only exit had heavy bars over it. The two toys looked at each other, and ran to the cell door. Unfortunately, the bars were too close together for either of them to squeeze through.

"You can't get through that way." The two looked up, and saw that there was another cell door in front of them. Behind it was a lioness, lying on the floor with her head on her paws, watching them. She seemed very annoyed. "I already tried."

"You...you can speak." Woody remarked. He'd only seen lions in books, but he knew that they couldn't talk. Or, at least, that's what he'd thought.

Buzz, who hadn't read Andy's book of animals, had no idea what the lioness was. "What are you?"

"I was going to ask you the same question." She stood up, looking less annoyed and more confused. "What kind of animal are you?"

"We're not animals." Woody explained. "We're toys." Most toys refused to come to life in front of humans, but animals were the exception. "I'm Sheriff Woody, and this is my friend, Buzz Lightyear."

Buzz gave a salute. "We come in peace, ma'am."

The lioness nodded. "I'm Nala, and to answer your question, I'm a lion."

"Unfortunately, Miss Nala," came a voice from the wall to Woody's and Buzz's left, "I think you're the only animal here."

"Who was that?" Buzz jumped back, instinctively holding his laser in front of him (although he knew it wouldn't do anything).

Woody had noticed, unlike his friend, that they were in a hallway full of cells. Meaning, as the mysterious voice had proven, that there were other captives.

"Hello?" He called. "Who said that?"

"Greetings!" The voice answered. "I am Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King of Halloweentown! I'm upset that we're in this unfortunate situation, but I am delighted to meet you!"

"Uh, you too!" Woody had no idea how someone could be the ruler of a holiday, but he decided not to ask. He was about to call out again when someone else interrupted him.

"Nala, who's in the next cell?" This voice sounded like it came from a young girl.

"Hello?" Buzz called out this time. "I am Buzz Lightyear, I come in peace. This is my friend, Sheriff Woody."
