Part 13: search party

You went back to the boys and when you came down they were already packing snacks, or well mainly your brothers nougat. Ofcourse. Weirdly enough they were equiped really well.

"Y/N I'm saying we should asume the worst." Handing you a gun. "But could never be too safe. You knew how to use it?" You nodded. You and Dean had gone to a shooting range as date once. So luckily you knew how to fire a gun.

"We'll divide the group. I'll go with Dustin." You said waving him over. "Nancy with Mike?" She nodded as she grabbed Mike's arm. "Jonathan will you take Will and Lucas?" He gave you the thumbs up.

"Let's go find Eddie!" You exclaimed.
You began with walking around town. It was the most unlikely but maybe he went to a pub were he performed. For the boys and 4 random dudes. It wasn't much but they hung out there a lot. But no. Nothing.

After strolling around you guys to go to the woods split up there. Maybe not the best idea but you had to get the boys home before the parents went asleep and this was the was to cover the most ground.

You were walking around for quite awhile now and you couldn't find any signs. You and Dustin went to skull rock. Finding a lot thrash, trash left by the lovers of Hawkins.

You walked around it and kicked some of the trash away. You went in for you final kick as you were annoyed but as you looked at it, it looked familiar. It was a black bandanna, Eddie's black bandanna..

You screamed for Dustin as you picked up his bandanna almost pushing it in his face.
"Look it's Eddie's" waving it infront of his face.

It still smelt of his cheap shampoo and sigarettes. But you, for some reason, loved the smell. It did make you miss him so much.

You started looking around were you found the bandanna and saw some weird moving vines and twigs. It almost looked.. alive? Dustin was talking on the walkie talkie to let the others know that they had to come to skull rock.

When everyone arrived you showed them the vines. Nancy looked worried.

"It's a portal.." she looked worried. "I got trapped in it before" looking at Jonathan. He nodded to confirm.

"Can we go in?" You asked as you were eager to find Eddie.
"It's not safe Y/N." She shook her head no. "I alsmost died when I went in."

"So that means Eddie might be dying in there too. So he needs us." You said annoyed.
"If there is a way to get in, I'm going."

"So am I" Dustin said. You shook your head no. "Dusty stay here, if it's dangerous I don't want you in there."

"Y/N you're being a hypocrite." You raised your eyebrows at his big mouth all of a sudden. "Beside, I been down before."
"Fine. Who else is in?" You said looking around.

Everybody raised there hand, but Nancy kept it down. She had been such a badass, looking out for revenge, Dustin had told you everything.
And all of a sudden she was being absolute pain in the ass.

"Y/N please walk with me for a second."
You shrugged and walked to a side where they couldn't here you.
"Why are you so brave all of a sudden?" She began as she threw her hands up. "You never even bothered asking for more info after we did her search party. You were never there when Barb was gone."
Angry started to boil up in you. She didn't know what she was talking about. You had hated and blamed yourself but you just froze. Only thing you could do was sit in your room.

"Hell you can't even talk about it now, can you Y/N." She bit her lip and threw out the last words. That cut deep and even opened the old scar that never actually healed. "You never cared for her death, you didn't care about her. Differently you would've come to that stupid party."

You looked up and snapped. "If you wouldn't have been so busy fucking Steve, she wouldn't have been a easy prey. But you did right. Was it worth it?"
She looked so offended and deep down you knew you didn't mean a word of it. But you just spat it out.
You wanted to walk away but you grabbed her arm.

"Don't do this Nancy. How many more times do I have to say I'm sorry."
You felt desperate. "In my room you told me it was fine, that you understood me, and what triggered this switch?"

She ripped loose from your grip. "Because for some stupid boy you are willing to risk it, but you didn't for Barb."

"Nancy listen, I didn't know how bad it was, I didn't understand that there was another world under us. I still don't understand but I have accepted it." You let a tear fall. "I was scared, I hope that she had just ran away, and that she would make up her mind and come back."
You gripped your fist as you wanted to say so much but you some how couldn't find the right words.
"I don't want to make the same mistake. I don't want to loose another person I care for just because I'm scared, or that I want to just run away from the truth. Thinking that ignoring will make the pain go away."

You grabbed her hand again. Looking in her eyes.
"You promised me to be my friend again. I don't to loose you again either. Because that hurt like hell too.." squeezing her hand. "Don't let me make the same mistake again."

And there you guys went again. Crying together at skull rock. She just broke at the unfinished business and you knew she would forget in a instant.
"Sorry Nancy, let's do this for Barb.." you said. "I want to show her that I won't be a running coward this time." Nudging her.
"That I can be just as strong as you were."

"Y/N" you were scared for her reaction. "You were almost the one to convince me to do stupid stuff. And you did it again." She pulled you in a big hug and you looked at you.
"For Barb" She added "for Barb."

You walked back to the rest who impatiently already trying to make the portal bigger. And luckily but also unfortunately succeeding bit by bit.

A red gleam popped out of the hole as you tried to really look inside of it. It just looked  like a underground hallway filled with the same vines and sticky stuff.

"Y/N will you do the honours of going in first." Jonathan said. "Rather not but I guess I already got myself into it."
You pushed yourself through the portal and it felt like gravity shifted. It was a weird feeling and you couldn't really explain it but patted off some dirt and yuck off you as you tried to look down the portal. But no luck as it seemed very long and too dark. You light up your lighter and saw some vines back away. They were scared of fire?

You experimented some more and could confirm you hypothese quickly.
When everybody was in you gave everyone a weapon and told them about the fire. Nancy ripped a piece of her clothing but it around a stick and lit it on fire.

"Let's see if it helps?" She asks handing you the stick.
You set the first step into the unknown. Not knowing what you would find. But hopefully Eddie. Alive, and only Eddie.

"Let's do this."
