part 31: battle of Hawkins

You woke up by everybody walking into the room. Large bags were filled with weapons and Steve was carrying two big plastic jugs with, you guessed, gasoline. Were they going to light them him up? Did that have extra effect?

You rubbed the sleep out of your eyes, waiting for directions so you knew what to do. But eveybody just started running around. Doing there thing.

"we're going to the meadow to prepare everything. It isn't that smart to make flare bombs in your home.'' Steve said. He probably saw that you looked a little lost. He walked up to you and asked how your were feeling. When he did this he grabbed your hands, looking right into your eyes. You just knew that Eddie was in the back, watching you two every move. You said that were alright and it was just going very fast.

The police was probably more on the look out for Eddie anyway. Once in the field the started preparing everything. Sharpening spears en spikes into baseball bats. It really looked the zombies were about to attack Hawkins. You sat back and enjoyed the little moment Dustin and Eddie had. When making the plan you had to stick with Eddie and Dustin. You guys were the distraction and the lure for the, you believed Dustin called them the demobats. Eddie was basically going to play in the upside down whilst you hide in the van. When everything is over your just going to leave and wait for the rest. Easy right?

You guys made sure to hug everyone one last time, or atleast the older ones, as the little once were still disgusted by touch. We stood in a circle. Making sure that we were all ready and we went to our spots.

You guys drove in Steve's car to make it less sus. It was awfully quiet and there was nothing to could cut the tense. Atleast you thought. Eddie grabbed your thigh. Circling around for reasures. You grabbed his and squeezed it tightly.

''No matter what happens we stick together, okay?'' you asked. ''both of you make sure to not leave my eye sight. We getting through this. Were just the distraction.'' You came into the van. And to just get it over with right away into the upside down. Nailing down everything, trying to not grab too much attention.

Eddie grabbed his guitare and was talking to it like he was about to suck it down. But you could laugh about it. You joked that you'll forever be second. But you weren't sure if you were actually joking.

Plugging everything in trying to make none to little noise. Everything was done. The house was nailed down and Eddie was ready to walk upstairs to give the bats the show of their lives. But you weren't ready yet so when he tried to go upstairs you stopped him.
"Don't do anything stupid Munson, one song, distract and back to real Hawkins." Your voice was stern but shaky.

"Don't you worry Darling" he said cupping your cheek giving you a sweet peck on the lips. "I love you Y/N, aways." This was the perfect moment to say it back. But you couldn't get yourself to say those stupid three words back. "Go rock the upside down Munson." He gave you a smile and he took his stand on top of the trailor.
Dustin was cheering him on. You gave the signal that were starting to distract so that they could go into the upside down and kill that bastard.

When got the signal back you walked up to the roof, giving Eddie the signal. He started his first notes and immediately the first bat nearby cocked his head to the sound. Leaving a loud squeek probably screaming for his buddy's. You had few bullets so the first bats were yours. The first one came right to his face and one blow you hit its head. The bats that were nearby were down and gone but you knew that there was many more. You counted your bullets and there wasn't much left. You told Eddie that as soon as the bigger group came you were going back.

He gave you the smallest nod because he was so into his own sounds. You loved seeing him like this. He was at peace playing, and well that gave you some peace. You gave Dustin's hand a squeeze.

"What ever happens Dusty, I love you, and can't imagine having a better annoying brother like you." 
He squeezed back. "I love you too Y/N, but we got this!" He all of a sudden pointed to the sky. A black swarm was flying towards you guys. You gulped away your fear and warned Eddie. But he just stood there playing whilst they came closer and closer.

"Eds hurry, come inside, they'll be here in any second." He ignored you for a little longer and then looked at your worried look and ran inside. You made sure that they were inside before closing the top door. But a bat came right between it, screaming and waving his paws wildly, giving you a few scratches in the proces.  Put with one pull you had split the bat in the middle finally being able to close the door.

You arm was covered in blood. And grabbed his badana binding it around your arm. "I'm fine Munson." He hugged you and gave you a passionate kiss. When he let go your eyes grew big.
"I just had to do that, the adrenaline is taking over I guess." You gave a giggle before suggesting to back. But the sounds of the bats got louder and louder. They were clawing at the barricades and you gave Dustin a push to walk to the gate. "Hurry Dusty." But before he got the chance a bat broke through and flew to his face. But you pushed him behind you and you reached for your gun and blew 2 shots. Both hitting the bat but also creating a whole in the one of the wooden planks. A bat tried to worm himself right through it but it took a while so you had some time.

You fought your way to the portal as more and more bats came through. Dustin got through the portal and you were climbing and Eddie gave you the final push. You immediately put your hand through for him to grab. But he looked back and softly touching your hand and letting go.

He pushed the matrass that you guys had used to break the fall away and said. "I got this. I'm not running this time." And he left. Running outside screaming something inaudiable to the bats. You screamed his name as tears streamed down your cheek. He was never going to make this. "Dustin stay here." You said as you let yourself fall down the portal. With a loud thud you fell on the ground groaning in pain. You dusted yourself off and stood up. "Don't you dare follow me Dustin." You grabbed a left over baseballbat and walked through the door.

Seeing Eddie with bats flying around him, clawing and biting at him. It took another 5 seconds untill you saw him falling down. Bats getting to his abdomine. You screamed. You blew bullets towards the area not looking for a aim and it worked it scared them away.

You fell down to his side looking at all the blood and started screaming his name. But it wasn't waking him up. Was he dead?
A soft "Eddie" came from your lips aa your tears fell down to his face.

"Eds, don't die on me, I need you, I love you." You gave his chest a small push. "Goddammit I love you Eds, don't go."
Letting your head fall down to his chest.
