Chapter 11: Dinner and a Plan

{Dani's POV}

{Boat Dock Outside Cabin}

{7:08pm}

I sat down and looked out on the lake. 

Taking off my backpack and tossing it aside. 

I asked what was for dinner and his eyes widened. 

"Shit! I'll uh, be right back." He sprung up and bolted to the cabin, I just laughed.  

He's not what I thought he'd be. 

He left the lunch pail just sitting there, I had wondered what was in there, why he always carried it around. 

So, I folded and reached for it.

I picked it up and flicked open the latches, and creaked it open. 

Inside it just smelled like skunk, i turned my head quick as the smell caught me off guard, but I turned back and continued looking. 

Inside was weed, a few stray cigarettes, filters, rolling paper, a lighter and 

condoms?

Oh my god I was right. 

He's just trying to use me to get lucky, I thought he actually liked me! 

I'm so stupid, I've been played like this and it hurts, I thought Eddie was good.

I heard steps and closed it shut quickly, putting it in the place it was. 

Eddie came rushing down with a pizza box, smiling his dumb smile as he set it down between us. 

I just wanted to pretend I didn't see the condoms and wait until it really mattered to bring it up.

"I got it delivered, I hope just cheese is okay." He said as he put a slice on a paper plate and handed it to me.

I took it and we ate together, in silence.

 It probably was supposed to be awkward but it wasn't, it was comfortable silence. 

He reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a cassette. 

"I know you live by your walkman, so I made you this. I hope you like it, Dani." He nervously looked at me as I took it. 

I smiled at him and instantly put it in the boombox next to us. We listened to the music and talked for hours.

{Eddie's POV}

{Boat Dock Outside Cabin}  

{10:13pm}

Dani and I have been talking for hours now. 

After we finished eating we laid on the blankets I put out and stargazed. 

It just felt right to be with her. 

At that moment, I didn't care about anything, just Dani. 

I didn't want this to end, so I kept doing everything in my power to make sure it didn't. 

I knew exactly how. 

I sprung up and took off my jacket. "What are you doing Munson?" Dani asked me looking weirded out. 

I just smiled back at her. 

"I think I need to work off the pizza we ate." I said taking my shirt off, I felt her eyes on me.

It was cute she was staring, "How about you take a picture? It'll last longer." I told her, her face got red. 

God I liked this girl a lot. 

Just then as I stood at the edge of the water, I took off my belt, chain and my bandana from my back pocket. 

I smiled at her and jumped head first into the water. 

When I came back up I just heard Dani laughing. 

Like a full belly laugh, I don't think she'd ever done that before. It was intoxicating. 

"You need to come in too! The water is great!" I said floating in the water, giving her puppy dog eyes to beg. 

"Are you crazy? I didn't bring a swimsuit Eddie!" 

I thought for a moment. 

"Then just wear my shirt, princess." I could tell she liked when I called her that. 

I turned my body the other way, my back facing her. 

"See? I wont look. just put on my shirt, it's okay!" I yelled, I heard her get up and my heart was pounding.

I heard clothing flop onto the dock, my breathing was hitched and unsteady. 

I don't think I've ever been this nervous. 

Just then I heard a jump and Dani landed in the water with a huge SPLASH! 

When she came back up I saw her in my hellfire shirt.

She swam over to me, and my heart felt like it was going to explode.
