Chapter 6

It's been about 5 days since I've been in South Carolina. Haven't heard from my friends back at home. Made one friend, met one stubborn boy, and already went on a date that I didn't want to go on. My life is so exciting. I woke up and immediately called one of my friends from home. I needed to hear at least one of their voices. I miss them.

"Ari! How is South Carolina?" my friend Kyla answered right away.

"It's nice here but I miss everyone" I said still laying in my bed.

"We miss you too. How are the boys there?"

"Eh, okay I guess." I didn't feel like explaining the whole situation I'm in right now with Danny and Keaton.

"Just okay? I guess I'll have to come down myself to check those boys out. I know you'll hate me for mentioning this but Ryan is doing terrible without you..." She paused after saying that. Ryan is my ex boyfriend. I caught him cheating on me  a couple months ago and I broke up with him. Now I guess he's realizing what he lost.

"No it's fine. Why is he doing terrible?"

"Well he doesn't usually come to school and when he does he cries."

"Are you sure it's because of me?" I asked getting out of bed.

"I know you have something to do with it but maybe not all of it"

"Yeah that makes more sense. He just needs to get over me. It took me a while to get over him but whatever"

"Preach. I gotta go my mom is calling me. Love you Ari!"

"Love you too!" We both hung up. Kyla is my best friend but even that phone call felt weird. I know it will never be the same.

I checked my phone and it was already Monday! I thought it was Sunday.. wow I can't believe Kyla answered on a Monday morning. That's great friendship right there.

I arrived at school and went straight to first period. Bethany came in rambling on about something.

"Soo Danny called me yesterday" Bethany took her seat.

"Oh. He probably hates me" I referred to the end of our date when I rejected his kiss.

"No he doesn't hate you. He's just confused a little bit."

"I told him before the date that I didn't want to go on dates or have relationships and now he's confused? That's not fair." I started getting a little mad.

Bethany was about to say something else but the teacher already started teaching today's lesson.

School today went by so slow. It wasn't until lunch I figured out people were talking about Danny and I.

"What is their problems?" I asked out loud while walking towards the lunch table with Bethany.

"The whole school talks about the latest gossip no matter who it's about. It's really annoying"

I guess that makes sense since we are in high school. As I ate my lunch, Keaton came strolling into the packed lunch room and took a seat at his table.

"So we need to finish talking about Danny" Bethany stated while turning her body toward me so she can talk to me.

"There's nothing else to talk about" I honestly told her.

"So you don't like him right?" She asked.

"Yes, I don't like Danny" I stated.

"Okay, cool" she said almost turning back around.

"Why do you want to know?" I asked.

"So I can tell him so he doesn't bother you anymore. I just don't want him getting his hopes up if you won't like him back" She reasoned.
