My alarm buzzed which woke me up immediately. I checked my phone to see if Danny texted me. Maybe he wanted to last minute cancel? But I got nothing. I guess the date is still on. I walked downstairs to eat some breakfast before getting ready. My mom was already making some sort of breakfast food.
"Good morning" she looked at me while cooking eggs on the stove.
"Good morning" I answered back to her while taking a seat at the table. "So I'm going on a date" I said nonchalantly.
"What!? When? With who?!" She bombarded me with all these questions.
"Mom chill" I put my hands over my face. I knew this would happen.
"Okay sorry! I'm just excited for you!" She put the eggs in a plate for me.
"His name is Danny and he's picking me up at 11:30"
"Aww I'm so excited! I must meet him" she placed the meal in front of me and sat down on the chair next to me.
"Yeah I'll tell him to come inside" I didn't want to say anymore so I quickly ate my food and went upstairs to get ready. I wore a cute sundress with gladiator sandals. I did my makeup but not too drastic. Before I knew it, it was 11:30 and from my window, I saw Danny's car pull into the driveway. I grabbed my little purse and phone and walked downstairs to greet Danny.
"Hello" he said as I opened the door like he knew I was going to be there.
"Hi" I said as we both hugged each other. My mom invited herself into our conversation.
"And I'm the mother" she put her hand out for Danny to shake.
"Hello Mrs. Walker" Danny shook her hand.
"Wow Ari he's so cute!" She spoke right in front of him. What the actually fuck mother..
"Thank you" he chuckled awkwardly. "Any time I should have Ari home by?" He asked my mom.
"No, you two kids have fun" she said pushing both of us out of the door. I gave my mom the death stare while she continued to wave and smile. Typical mother. I then walked into Danny's car. He got into his car as well.
"I'm really happy you said yes" he said smiling at me. I didn't want to sound like a total bitch so I agreed with him even though it wasn't that true. We were driving for almost a half hour and I obviously had no idea where we were going. We made small talk and Danny was really nice but nothing clicked. Nothing should click because I don't even want a guy so I'll be happy if we don't click. Bethany came up in our conversation and that reminded me that I forgot to tell her about Danny and I going on a date. I don't think she'll be mad that I didn't tell her... I'll just tell her later. We pulled into an empty parking lot by a really pretty park.
"This is so pretty." I said getting out of the car and looking at the gorgeous flowers and trees.
"Yeah we're having lunch here" Danny brought out a blanket and a picnic basket.
"This is nice" I waited for him to put the blanket down. We both sat and started eating finger sandwiches.
"So how do you like South Carolina so far?" He asked me.
"Well, I don't love it but I don't hate it. I kind of just wish I could go back home. I miss my friends the most" I took a bite of my sandwich
"Oh yeah I see what you're saying. I moved here when I was younger and felt the same way. But now I have new friends and I know they'll be my friends forever so it's all good" he smiled at me.
"Are you still friends with your old ones?" I asked curiously.
"Not really. We kind of just lost touch"
