The preliminaries

Tanya's POV

We lined up and got ready for the tip off. The whistle blew and the tip off began. "Dad" got the ball before kagami could and honestly i was surprised, because i can see kagami has the leg power. As we ran to start the game i saw how they had habits on how they ran. I was able to block most of the stuff. Kagami had some struggle, and i saw him getting angry so i went up to Izuki to ask for a quick trading of spots so i could show them something of my play style. He agreed passing me the ball and ran to defend the basket. As i was getting ready i heard "dad" say, "why is there a woman on the court she can not play against men. She is weaker than us." And that right there got my blood boiling, and not only that it gave me a memory.

Flashback

"Boys id like you to meet the new recruit, tanya." The coach said "what why is a girl playing on our Teiko boys team. She would just slow us down." A dark blue haired male said as he looked at my chest and not my eyes. "If you believe that then how bout playing one-on-one just to see how bad i would slow you down." I said with a sickening smile that made all the boys and even the coach flinch and gulp. I have faced all the players of the Teiko basketball team and I haven't even begin to lose my breath, but they all have.

"Boys you will respect her and how she plays. She isn't like others, she's stronger, faster, and her eyes tell her everything she needs to know about her opponent." Coach said as we got everything cleaned up. A hot pink haired boy cane up to me and started to talk. "My name is Seijuro Akashi. I must ask how you beat me. I've never lost before." I looked him square in the eyes and said, "well that's why i played against you last, and made sure no one else saw. I know the Akashi family is knowing for winning and ne'er losing, but how do you think they got to be as big as they are now. Through trial and error and sometimes loosing. Yes it sucks, but it happens in order to show what you can learn in the sense." I tapped his shoulder and walked out to head home.

End of flashback

I was not going to let my gender stop how or who i play against. "Not to sound mean but what you said is highly rude. Not to mention one of your teammates thought it would actually be a weakness for my team. Though got to give props for your coach knowing who i am simply by just the teal in my hair, but I'm done being nice for this game." I glared at "dad" and started to dribble a bit harder and faster than i did at kise's game and broke past all of the guys and even past "dad" and kagami and dunked it hard.

As i walked away I caught a glimpse of kagami staring at me in awe, and to be honest i gave him a little wink. I saw him flinch and look away slightly blushing. 'Heh he's cute ill give him that.' I thought as we continued, we kept going and got to say it was fun.

Kagami's POV

After she dunked the ball i had to say i was impressed she knows how to play even when people doubt her. I stared as she was walking back, but the thing was she caught me and winked at me. 'Holy crap! She is hot, and the way she plays too... wait am i crushing on her?!!? How can I even fall for her. She really is good though.' I thought while looking away and blushing. I shook it off because we were still in the middle of a game.

We kept going and i wanted to make her notice me so i pushed myself harder and harder till the last one of "dad's" shot i blocked making us able to win the game. I couldn't have been happier as i looked to the rest of my team i saw her smiling at me and slightly nod. 'She noticed me. Why do i like it when she looks my way. I can't believe this I'm actually falling for this chick.' I thought and couldn't get it out of my head she is good in basketball, selfless, kind, and hot as hell. We managed to get all the way to the fourth round and it was the same guys from the other day. We won with them being totally terrified.

As we sat on the bench resting and the second years were telling us that they didn't stand a chance last year against the three kings. We saw Shutoku coming in so i wanted to go say hi, and to make the promise of revenge for them. "I'm gonna go say hi." I said getting up and walking towards Midorima. I wrote on his hand knowing that he was the type to say he don't remember people who give a half-assed intro. He went to say that all three kings tripled the scores last year of our team.

"Do you believe that it will happen again. Because in all honesty i dont think things happen the same twice, besides that's not nice to say." I heard on my right, and saw Tanya looking towards Midorima, as did kuroko on my left. "T-tanya your playing again." He said staring at the girl. She froze for a sec before shaking her head lightly and groaned. "Midorima is that really you.?" She asked but then smiled. "It's definitely been awhile, and still doing the taping on your fingers." She said and i saw him blush, but i dont think i was the only one who noticed it.

As he told us about our upperclassman he began to walk away, but told Tanya to follow Him and in honesty i felt jealous. "Hey kagami lets get our stuff we need to pack up so they can play." Kuroko said next to me. I sighed, but something was off in his voice i looked over i saw him staring at her. 'Man he's got it for her too, just how many people like this chick?! I mean i could even see that kise liked her when he was clinging onto her.' I thought figuring out that now i have competition for her to notice me.

Midorima's POV

As we got far enough from that idiot kagami and kuroko, Takao was a little too close to Tanya for my comfort so i grabbed her arm softly and pulled her closer to me. "Eh?? Shin-Chan whatcha doing? Cmon now just wanted to get to know her i mean you've known her longer than me so i want to meet the girl who you admire." He said which ticked me off, but all i heard was the angelic sound of her laughter. Her team and even mine looked to her and were confused, even my coach who looked like he had seen a ghost was shocked.

"Haha. Shin-Chan is that what you call him? I've never heard anyone call him that." She said while still laughing as he looked to me smirking. 'I can't believe he knows now. My secret of liking Tanya.' I thought fighting the blush of embarrassment that was trying to show on my cheeks. "Takao come get ready now!" Coach yelled at him and he walked off. Tanya calmed down even to look at me and all i saw was that even after nearly 2 years of not seeing her she hasn't changed. "So you wanted to tell me something away from my teammates. So what is it?" She asked. I put my lucky item down and went in my bag to grab her lucky item the i got her.

I pulled out a keychain with two dolphins together and showed her. She looked surprised but happy. Her lucky item was a water type animal keychain, and i remembered she said once that she loved dolphins for how free spirited they are. "This is your lucky item for today. I wanted to give it to you as a way to bring you good luck." I said handing it to her, and she took it with great care smiling at it. "It's beautiful Midori." She said, and i froze and blushed because that's what she use to call me back at Teiko. "N-no problem. I-i just want you to have the highest luck that's all." I said looking away from her as a way to hide the blush that was on my face. "Midorima! Lets hurry up over there! Time to get ready!' Coach yelled, but I didn't want to leave Tanya.

"It's okay midori, and thank you for the keychain, but you know i don't believe in lucky items. I believe the items you love will bring you luck. Also good luck in your game." She said and walked away. I could correctly function anymore. I wanted to play now to show her how much I've grown, because how could i fail now. My destiny is stronger when she is near. Soon i will prove that to the others, and she will be mine.

3rd POV

As Seirin watched Shutoku they gave their opinions about how well they played and looked so polished. "Because they don't mess up." Tanya said before Hyuga could. They all looked at her, the second years were surprised the first years even kuro and kagami were confused. She sighed and began to talk. "Well known schools like shutoku, Seiho, and many more who are known for their teams make sure that the basics of basketball are complete. Big schools like them make sure to have dribbling, passing, and running are down to the letter of nothing short to perfection. Besides it looks like the center is a big power house by himself." The first years with widen eyes looked towards the big guy taking a dunk knocking down two people.

"He's a beast." Kawahara said. "Yes he is, but he isn't the only beast even when is oha asa horoscope tells him to lay low today, he will show you guys why he is a miracle." Tanya said again because she didn't stop watching the court with such a serious expression. 'What does she mean by that?' Everyone asked in their heads as midorima got the ball they saw him getting into a shooting position, and shot with such a big arc. "So long as his form is perfect he'll never miss." She said making them all on edge for what is to come.
