"shay stop!" i said, swatting shay's hands away from my face.

dylan was across the table from us, on his phone.

of course nothing ever works out our way because in walked lexie and ryan.

"hey guys!" lexie smiled.

she and ryan sat down.

i eyed dylan and he eyed me.

"why are you guys sitting so far apart? in another fight?" lexie questioned.

"no!" i said, getting up and walking over to dylan.

i sat next to him and leaned my head on his shoulder, leaving shay sitting there.

shay raised an eyebrow at me, while dylan interlocked his fingers with mine.

"i'm gonna go to the bathroom." shay said, getting up and walking to the bathroom.

"me too." i said, excusing myself and following after shay.

"jesus it's like liv's dating shay and not you." i heard lexie joke as i walked up the stairs.

"shay?" i asked.

"what now? here to tell me how confused lexie and i both are again? lexie's clearly not confused. i'm the one confused. i know nothing yet lexie seems to know everything. and i'm your girlfriend." shay exclaimed.

"jeez, sorry. there's really no need for you the get confused." i said.

"how can i not be confused? first lexie asks if i'm dylan's ex and now she asks why you two are so far apart. and then you go basically throw yourself at him and hold his hand?!"

"shay. we're friends. best friends. calm down, don't be crazy. you're just acting like this because you haven't seen me in a while. if i were still living in san diego, you wouldn't be mad at something little like this."

"you know what? maybe you're right. maybe i should leave because this is just throwing me off. the hamptons is clearly not the place for me, and your friends are definitely not the people i want to be hanging around with."

"yeah, okay shay. go hangout with your cat or something."

"you know what?! maybe i will. ella seemed more excited to see me than you ever shown."

"maybe you should go hangout with ella then!"
