Something essential to know about Ranpo: when he says he can/wants to chat with you, he means he wants to brag about his latest case while you praise him on his accomplishments.
"You should've been there, Mochi! It was so much fun to see everyone's shocked faces as I put one my glasses, activated my ability, and exclaimed, 'the murderer was Ozasa!' They all freaked and asked how the heck I could've figured it out so quickly. For them it was such a hard case they could barely comprehend it! For me it was as easy as a snap of the fingers."
"That's great, Ranpo," you sighed, knowing that he wouldn't stop talking unless you praised him. "You're better than Sherlock Holmes."
"I know I am," Ranpo chuckled, "also I got some mochi for you! We can share it when I get back. Oh, and by the way, when I showed them what the murder weapon was they all said-"
"Wait," Atsushi mumbled, looking up at you, "who is Sherlock Holmes? Don't tell me he's another person who has a crush on you..." He looked completely defeated and tired of all of this harem nonsense.
"Hold up," you gasped. You turned around to look at Atsushi as you raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean by that?"
"Uh..." Atsushi struggled for words, eyes darting around frantically.
"Enough," Kunikida growled, "we're running out of time. Ranpo, do you know where the bomb is?"
"Y'know, I was looking forward to sight-seeing in Kyushu after I solved my case," Ranpo sighed, "you all disappoint me, except (Y/N) of course. They're the only good one out of you. Despite that though, none of you can conduct a single investigation without me."
Dazai reminded, "we only have until sundown. Please tell us the location."
"The fishing tackle store," Ranpo answered, causing Atsushi to gasp in shock. "The bomb is in the fishing tackle store in Negishi."
It only took you a second to realize that Ranpo was right yet again. It made a ton of sense. You were only upset that you needed Ranpo's help in order to find that out. It was kind of obvious.
Dazai seemed to realize the same thing you did. "Sure, that makes sense. Thanks, you're amazing Ranpo!" Everyone looked at Dazai in shock, and you simply deadpanned. And here you were thinking Kunikida was smart...
"I know I'm amazing," Ranpo chuckled, "what do you say, (Y/N)?"
"We don't have time. We need to go," Kunikida scowled. Little did anyone know that he wasn't only saying that because of the bomb, but there was a small part of him that knew the emotion he was feeling here was jealousy. Millions of lives were at stake and all Ranpo could care about was getting praise from someone that could make everyone jealous in seconds.
