After I dropped Johnny and Ponyboy off at school, I drove around town a bit before stopping at a small cafe for breakfast. I sat at a small booth by myself and ordered a strawberry milkshake and some fries. I sat, looking out the window and eating for about 10 minutes before I noticed a presence on the other side of the booth. I didn't have to look at him to know who it was. I could smell the cologne mixed with cigarettes and alcohol before I could even see him.

"Hey Dallas." I turned to smile at him. He smiled back at me but it was small, almost as if he was afraid to actually show some feeling other than his bad boy persona. He paused for a second, looking out the window before turning back to look at me again.

"Do you want to head over to the DX with me when you're done? I'm sure Soda and Steve would want to see ya."

"Sure. I'm pretty much done anyways." I left the money on the table and followed Dallas out to his car. It was a nice car and I was almost surprised at how he paid for it before I realized that it was Dallas Winston we were talking about. This wasn't his car. I rolled my eyes and laughed at him before climbing into the passenger seat. He got in the drivers side and turned the music to full blast. The song House of the rising sun by The Animals came on. I jumped in excitement and Dallas looked over at me and smiled. He pulled out of the parking lot while I looked out the window and sang along to the lyrics. Dallas was nodding his head and humming the tune quietly while his fingers tapped against the wheel. We pulled into the DX and Dally jumped out of the car, getting ready to scare the boys inside. I got out and followed behind him.

Dallas walked around the side of the building to where they worked on the cars and crept up behind Steve who was working under the hood of the car. Dallas grabbed his shoulders, making Steve jump and hit his head on the hood of the car. He got up and rubbed his head, yelling a string of curses at Dallas. My sides hurt from laughing so hard and I was bent over with my hands on my knees when I felt someone grab my waist from behind me and lift me up.

I yelped in surprise but I saw the watch on his wrist and saw that it was Sodapop. He carried me inside and placed me on the counter. I was still laughing at Steve who was using every curse word in the book to continue yelling at Dallas. Soda headed to the back of the store and grabbed two Pepsis before handing one to me and hopping on the counter to sit next to me.

I had calmed down from my laughing fit and laid my head on Soda's shoulder. He stiffened at first but threw his arm around my shoulder and relaxed into me.

"They're playing Lord of The Flies at the drive in later if you want to come. I know you haven't read the book but I have and I think it'll be really good." I looked up at him and he smiled.

"Sure, what time is it playing?"

"The movie starts at 8"

"Ok. I'll pick you up at 7:30 from your house." I smiled at him and placed my head back on his shoulder. He kissed the top of my head before grabbing both of our empty coke bottles and throwing them in the trash can behind the counter. I looked at the clock behind the counter and realized it  was almost 11. Keith was probably wondering where I was with his precious car at this point.

"I'm gonna go head back. Two's probably worried about me. Who am I kidding, Two's probably worried his car." I rolled my eyes and laughed before sliding off the counter. I kissed Soda on the cheek before walking out the front door, the bell jingling as I opened it. I waved to Dallas and Steve outside and began the walk back to the diner to get the car.
