Chapter 3: It's me

"Hey Techno" Dream said softly as he smiled a small smile at Techno. Techno just stared, not really know how to react. A part of Techno told him it was a dream and he'd wake up and Dream wouldn't be there. But he couldn't help but hope that this was all real. So even if it was just a dream, Techno let himself think it was real. Slowly Techno put Dreams mask back in place.

"Dream" Techno whispered as his hand fell from the mask. Dream just nodded. Techno feel to the floor pulling Dream into a hug. "Welcome home" Techno told Dream as he held him close with a few stray tears running down his face as he buried his face into Dreams shoulder.

Dreams wanted to hug Techno back but his hands where still tied behind his back. So all he could do was place his head next to Technos "I'm back Tech. Sorry it took so long" Dream apologise to the pinked haired man as Techno held him close. "It's okay. Your here now. You're here now" Techno whispered over and over again as if trying to reassure himself that it was all real. That Dream was in fact here in front of him and alive again.

Dream looked towards Phil who was watching the duo with a slight smile on his face. Dream gestured to the chains on him, asking Phil if he could get the soldiers to take them off. Phil seeing this gave a silent command to the soldiers telling them to take Dreams chains off. The soldiers did so hesitantly.

Once Dream had his hands free he wrapped Techno in a hug returning the hug Techno was giving him. "Come on Techno" Dream said quietly as he slowly began to stand up. Techno following him.

Once stood up Techno stepped back to get another look of Dream. "You idiot, don't run off like that again" Techno told Dream as he crossed his arms across his chest. "Sorry and I can't promise to not do it again" Dream said while fixing his mask. Techno just sighed in response, he knew Dream would do it again but Techno could only hope the next time Dream ran off on his own to fight something no one else can that he'd come back alive to him.

"How are you alive anyway. Not that I'm not happy but..." Techno trailed off as he looked away from Dream. "It's a long story. One that I'll tell you once we have time" Dream told Techno taking a step forward. "I promise" he promised Techno as he turned to Phil.

"Phil I'm back because of these monsters" Dream explained to Phil. "So you know about them?" Phil questioned. "I do the only reason I was allowed back was to help stop the end of humanity" Dream explained farther. "I see we'll I'd like you to join me in the library then" Phil told Dream as he stood from his throne.

"Sorry Techno but I'll be borrowing Dream for awhile" Phil apologised to Techno who looked at Dream wanting to stay near him. "I'll be fine Tech" Dream told Techno trying to make Techno fell better. Techno shifted his weight from one foot to the other. "I'll some and find you once we're done Techno, I promise" Dream promise as him and Phil turned to leave the throne room.

Once Dream and Phil where in the library away from praying eyes and ears Phil turned to Dream. "Explained" he demanded.
Dream sighed as he threw himself into a chair as he ran a hand through his hair making his hood fall down revelling his dirty blond hair. "Well I did actually die" Dream started to explain as Phil hummed showing he was listening as he too sat in a chair with a book in hand. "But I am actually somewhat immortal, the only reason I died was because I used all my magic and I died because there was no magic to keep me alive. I had to use everything I had to stop the ruin and contain the damage" Dream explained looking at Phil. "If that makes any sense"

Phil nodded as he began to think. Immorality is not something that just stops. When your immortal that's it, you can't die. Well for the most part. So it made sense, Dream was immortal because of his magic and he used all of his magic which made him die.

"Now for how your back" Phil said as he opened the book he had scanning through the pages looking for information about what was happening. "Ah that. The deities can't intervene to help stop what's coming. And if it's not stoped humanity will be wiped out" Dream continued. "Something similar happened a long time ago according to the deities and to stop him they had to give up there ability to intervene with anything on earth all they can do is watch and do there respected jobs" Dream explained.

"But I could. I'm allowed to intervene. So I convinced the deities to send me back. The only reason it really worked was because all my magic had regenerate" Dream said picking a book up from near him. "It took a lot to send me back. All the deities are weak and tired because it used almost all their energy. As for me it almost drained me of all my magic again" Dream explained once again meeting Phil's eyes.

"I'm sorry for coming back. I don't want to hurt your family anymore than I already have and I know I've hurt you all more than I could ever hope to be forgiven for. I didn't plan to come back. I wasn't even sure it would work. I thought it was going to wipe me from existence" Dream apologise to Phil. He truly didn't want to hurt them anymore than he already had. The only reason you where all given a second life was because of me. And I came into your life's again just to leave and come back yet again" Dream sighed before continuing looking down at the floor below him.

"I know I can't ask for forgiveness. Or expected another chance. So all I ask is you let me stay so I can save you all again. I'll keep my distance. Hell if you even wanted me to I'll leave and never show myself again. All I ask and I swear this is the last time I'll ask for anything from you, please let me help" Dream begged as he looked straight into Phil's eyes.

Phil took a moment to think over Dreams words. It wasn't really Dreams fault about any of this. It was the deities who decided to give them another chance of life even if it was for Dream. Dream didn't really have a say. And the only reason Dream died and left them, left Techno was because he died to save them all. So, is it really his place to tell Dream to stay away and when everything is over to leave and make sure they never see him again?

Phil should want to yell at Dream and tell him it was his fault that Techno was so sad for six years. He wanted to scream and tell him to get lost. But for some reason he just couldn't. Phil looked at Dream and he saw a broken man who loves his son so much that it hurts, and is willing to suffer to make sure there all safe.

Techno was lost for six years without Dream. But how long had it been when Techno died and Dream had to wait for Techno, for all of them.

Phil sighed once again as he looked at Dream. "Alright Dream you can stay and help. But it's up to Techno and the others if you stay after this is all over"

And that was all Dream could ever ask for. So a big grateful but sad smile made its way onto Dream face through it was hidden from Phil by his white smiley mask.

He was going to save them. He was going to save all of them. And Dream didn't care what would happen to himself.

As long as there safe and happy then it doesn't matter what happens to him.
